Celine 'sings'... and, yes, arguably more precisely and technically perfect... almost clinical! ...but... Lara pours out her soul on the stage until nothing is left ... her imprecision is her emotion. Taking the 'belts' out of their emotional and musical context, Celine seems to have the edge. Both in range and power... but at the expense of emotional rawness. It's hard to tell in the video (due to the lack of context and poor recording quality) but Lara's belts are so tied up in the emotion of the piece, that their imperfections ARE what makes them astounding. The imperfections are where the feeling lives.... the perfectly nuanced cracks are where her very soul oozes out. Sorry Celine, but it's Lara every time for emotional ballads. You don't really come close. For power-ballads through to pop/classic is where Celines clinical precision really shines. Two singers, both amazing ... one technically perfect ... the other, emotionally unsurpassed.

dedede jereme Best technique results in longevity. Lara’s voice almost has no changed after few decades of her career. She doesn’t need to lip sync to protect her vocal cords. Lara always modifies her vowel to have the most comfortable and relax sound therefore she never loses her resonance. Lara literally can sing closed vowel perfectly on high notes but that would cause a lot of tension on her vocal cords. Lara is classical trained for years. Literally every classical trained singer always have really good techniques not just Lara. Lara is more about classical style in her songs which is not quite popular than ballad or pop or rock or R&B.

At moments lara's technique is superior but during celine's taking chances tour her techique sounded better. Her mixing was slightly more heady and nasally but it gave the voice a kind of flexibility. Also I feel that celine has a better sense of artistry and that is why she has made it big. Lara is just a vocalist at moments, celine is that plus and artist. There are reasons why one has surpassed the other.

Come on, Lara is waaay better in every way: huge and perfect ressonance, an almost non human breath control, pure emotion while is singing every note, she doesn't "scream", she uses the 'bel canto' technique because she was and still is very dedicated to what she purposes to do. Compare Celine to Lara is a shame to Lara, she is unbeatable in live and also in studio. Everyone who knows a little bit about vocal technique will agree with what I said here. I study vocal technique (popular and the 'bel canto') since 90's. ;)

Even though they both sound very similar, I find Celine's nasal quality thins her voice a little. Lara has fantastic resonance compared to Celine however, Lara's voice can be a little overbearing sometimes. Personally, I prefer Lara. Song interpretation, artistry, classic, emotion, powerful belts... she does them all well. Celine is very commercial and while her belts are powerful, past a certain point they sound raspy whereas Lara maintains a clear ring throughout her belts.

leunameange hm maybe is read of studying vocals for 2 decades you should study grammar and proper English. And by the way, anyone who is ACTUALLY knowledgable about vocals would know that these two are pretty much evenly matched; Celine's tone is just more nasal while Laura has a fuller tone. Thine Ortega Both of them are sopranos. celine dion is a hybrid between spinto and lyric soprano. I'd say Lara is a light-lyric soprano (even thoug a lot of people thinks she is a full lyric). celine's voice is bigger and thicker than Lara's. lara's voice is very light, powerful, but light.

I love them both. I've been a fan of Celine's about 4-5 yrs longer than Lara, but still I am partial to Celine's voice. But when it comes to belting, Lara is superior, which is easy to understand because that's her forte. In the video below, it is visible that: -Celine Dion strains almost all notes above E5 (and don't mistake "belting" for "hitting" notes). On the other hand, Lara belts without an effort. -In terms of tones, it is not objective to say that Celine has a "prettier" tone than Lara's. Everyone has their own preferences. - Sustaining: The answer is clear: Lara wins all the way. -Techniques: Celine's voice has changed and she also lip sync. Lara's techniques remain the same, just the tone has aged. Breath support: Once again, the answer is so obvious that I don't even want to repeat the winner (20s C5 you're not from here, 7s E5 Jet'aime...) Resonance: Lara Fabian only stands behind Barbra Streisand. Celine's resonance is almost non-existent in upper register (D5 above) Also, I want to mention two things: -Celine defeated Lara in Eurovision contest because Lara back then was young, inexperienced. let me give you a professional opinion, please correct me if I'm wrong ;) Celine got more "twang" more "squillo" which is the correct way to sing. Lara plays safe, she uses mix, and she start low so we don't notice the "bridge", if she is tired she can't mix because she won't have a strong head voice to be mixed with. it's about tastes and choices here. Lara bothers me a little because keeps her voice backward but still love her though! Safe though..

Lara has a Great Resonance but I think that resonance seems to be so blurry and heavy on ears ,it reverbs excessively like singing inside a BOTTLE and lacks Clarity. I still prefer Celines Technique. it flows naturally, her Clarity and Agility are truly a gift, so far she has the most powerful FULL Chest voice by a female by far without shifting to Mixed Voice in attempting a higher octave in an instant.

Normally, Celine. In this video, Laura. Lara has a very unpleasant sound to me. What I notice about Lara is is that she cannot center the pitch when she sings a note without vibrato (something Celine CAN do and is a master at). If Celine would have been represented in this video with just a few of her masterful notes that were clearly not used, Lara would have severely lost. And that whatever dude with the long name below that said Lara can maintain texture while going higher, Celine can too and she is quite good at it. Another thing is, Celine has more than 1 colour to her voice; she has about 10. Laura has 1 colour to her voice. As half of what I stated were based off preference, technically if Celine would have been better represented, she would have won effortlessly.

No, she wouldn't have. Her technique is worse. Though she can sustain notes rather easily, she mixes unevenly, places her voice in the throat, and doesn't lift her soft palate. Lara doesn't have any of these problems. Even if Celine had better notes, she would still be no match for Lara. "Another thing is, Celine has more than 1 colour to her voice; she has about 10. LOL, well the G# from "I Surrender" is used in EVERY video, and I already used the G# from "The Reason" at the Lottery Show in my other video....I guess I could have used one of those again, because there are other notes that I repeated in this video, but I didn't want to use ALL of the same ones over again. Either way, I'd say that Lara takes G# regardless of which Celine note I use lol.

Come on, Lara is waaay better in every way: huge and perfect ressonance, an almost non human breath control, pure emotion while is singing every note, she doesn't "scream", she uses the 'bel canto' technique because she was and still is very dedicated to what she purposes to do. Compare Celine to Lara is a shame to Lara, she is unbeatable in live and also in studio. Everyone who knows a little bit about vocal technique will agree with what I said here. I study vocal technique (popular and the 'bel canto') since 90's. ;)

They both sing differently...one is more "rock" in the highs (céline), the other is cleaner in the highs. We have to take into account that Céline performs lots of concerts in Vegas and all around the world and her voice tend to be less perfect, but clearly amazing in the highs. Lara performs less on stage, but has an amazing vocal range too. It's a question of taste...not of performance.
