Welcome to my new channel!
Here you will find tutorials for cellists in which I always take a closer look at an important aspect of cello technique.
In this first video I talk about the importance of correct bowing in the upper half of the bow.
Prof. Manuel Fischer-Dieskau

Great lesson. It is counterintuitive to the normative. Extending the arm , is brilliant Thank you

Amazing video. What a most humble man. No surprise that he is such a great teacher. I have learned a huge amount today. He gives a time frame of how much time we should practice this exercise. Brilliant. I just love his approach.

Absolute wunderbare Videos! Fantastisch! Immer langsam uben!

one way to understand it easier is on violin that we also "raise the frog" when going to the tip and "raise the tip" when going to the frog to get an efforless transmition of weight and control, is the same but since cello have a different angle we go forward with the frog istead of raising it

Thoroughly enjoyable and very helpful. Many thanks for posting this. At the risk of sounding greedy, I hope there will be many more videos to come.

Thank you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge and expertise. It has always been my desire to learn to play the cello. I took enough lessons in both classical guitar and violin in order to be able to play some music on both of those instruments . (For economic reasons, I quit lessons after first position was comfortable and familiar.) Ive now bought a cello and am three months into lessons. It's both thrilling and humbling--hacking my way through those Suzuki pieces weekly for my very-talented, principal cellist teacher. I'm determined to continue, in spite of the difficult climb.

Yes. It’s hard to keep your arms up for so long. Fortunately, in real pieces you spend as much time in the lower half which gives you recovery time. Try to relax the parts of your arm that are not being used on each stroke.
