These Slow Tempo videos are by far the very best learning tools on KZbin and I just want to thank you so much for doing them. Your fingerings and bowings are dead on perfect, they make so much sense and are so easy to follow. I actually have copies of these pieces written out with no fingerings or bowings and I have written in yours measure by measure. I sincerely hope you continue this series with more Bach, Please.

I will keep doing it as long as it is useful for other cellist. Thank you so much for your feedback!

Completely agree. As I learn to read notes, I still like learning how to play other songs that are more mature than Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. So, seeing the finger placement is beyond helpful. I will not insult you by asking to put tape on your fingerboard. ( I want to though, but I wont)
Thank you for this. This Prelude should be required for all cello players. The intuitive sequences of this piece have trained my hands to effortlessly move between stings and positions. It’s magic!

Hi! I love this video, it helps me a lot to learn Bach! But I have one question: are you supposed to vibrato Bach, and play so much legato? Again, your playing is very beautiful, but I’ve just been wondering cause I don’t fully understand it yet.

Thank you very much, this is a really good channel, it helps a lot of people, including me. What score edition are you using in this prelude of Bach?
@Cellopedia6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for encouraging words! I love Barenreiter edition. I just make few little changes with fingerings and bowings. You can find a link to this edition here: www.cellopedia.org/sheet-music

Love this tutorial, I have a question tho. I have noticed that when you play the beginning, you stick to the D string a lot (for example, some notes on A string are played on D string), so I was wondering, do I have to play like you, or I can play on the string that I find the easiest to play a note on?
@Cellopedia2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you definitely can choose different fingerings. The choice of fingerings is quite a personal preference of a cellist. Sometimes playing in higher positions helps to use a different sound color and be more creative with phrasing, but there is nothing wrong, especially for Bach to choose to play in lower positions. All the best!

your fingering is very unusual. Is there a reason why you prefer the high positions on the d-string instead of using the a-string?
@Cellopedia Жыл бұрын
All the notes in higher positions on D string sound darker than on A string. As always, the choice of fingerings is an artistic choice. It is quite possible to find interesting sound colors staying in lower positions.

If you go to hell, it will be because there are midroll ads on this video. Imagine playing the cello and being interrupted by a Bumble ad. A fucking Bumble ad. Imagine that. Whatever. Enjoy your adsense pennies, Cellopedia.

Your bow slides up and down the strings instead of across and that rustling sound is heard clearly on the recording. Why are you teaching any one before you learned how to play yourself ? Tight shoulder too. Eh. I shouldn't look for teachers after seeing Capucon ....
