Thank you Inbal, I do love this prelude. I'm just an old man who lives in a remote part of the Australian bush where there is no internet. You've been an inspiration to me for many years. I've downloaded your videos so that I can access them regularly. Everyday, just after dawn, I attempt Bach's suites. Birds like them and sometimes join in. My aim is to learn them all before I die. I'm fairly rough and inaccurate but your insights bring extra joy to the challenge. I send you my gratitude for your generosity of spirit.

It inspired me so much to read this. You can do it! Keep it going I'm sure those birds are enjoying it a lot. I wish you to get to a level In which you can enjoy what you're playing, it's my current aim and I guess somehow might be yours too. Put loads of consistency on it and you'll for sure play all suites you want in a short time ;)

I wouldn't use the open A string much, only if necessary, as in the C# sharp passage, I even tried to play the D string, the harmonic on the D string and then the E string there, I feel that when you use the A string too much in suites, you distort the sound a lot, especially in movements slow passages or that are possible to strum on the D string Notes ADGCD

Thank you very much for this masterclass. I want to ask why the cello suites ordered 1-3-5-2-4-6 on Spotify? is it on purpose?
@Inbalsegevcello5 жыл бұрын
TAO hello and thanks for watching. When I recorded the suites I divided them into two discs ( the complete set is too long for one disc) and so the division was made for odd numbers and then even numbers also for practical reasons. Suites 4,5,6 together would have been too long for one CD. Spotify used the hard copy for their release.

@@Inbalsegevcello Thank you very much for your reply, believe me that your masterclass is over any value for me because even if I were rich I won't have anyone to teach me these nuances. I respect you deeply and listened to your incredible tone, phrasing and interpretation.

Thank you! I follow along with my Barenreiter edition of the Suites, which I like best, among the others I have and use. Barenreiter has optional bowings that are different from your own. My teacher and I worked out our fingerings and bowings. However in a couple of places (Bars 55 & 56) we have double down bowings for the first four notes in each bar (up bow the last 8 notes). I notice that you do not. Do you publish the bowings I saw at the bottom when they appear, or are they published somewhere? I also notice that you use the music in Anna Magdalena's hand. Is that because there are no bowings and fingerings and you add your own? This was great! Thanks again.
