Cellular Dynamics: an introduction

Launched in February 2017, Cellular Dynamics is unique visual and musical exploration of biology, capturing fascinating yet rarely-seen elements of laboratory research culture. In a series of events that blurs the boundaries between science and the arts, biological research is explored alongside live musical performance.
Developed as a collaborative project between Professor Dan Lloyd (School of Biosciences) and Daniel Harding (Head of Music Performance), images and film are presented alongside live performances of music; visuals and music combine to create a suitably meditative atmosphere in which to explore fundamental processes within living cells.
In this short film, Dan Lloyd introduces a special incarnation of the Cellular Dynamics project, in which each of the individual movements has been filmed in Colyer-Fergusson Hall, on the University's Canterbury campus.
