@Clinton Moore I only needed 4 or higher for both speaking and listening section, and, therefore, spent just over a week learning about the exam’s format and practiced giving timed answers to some of the questions in a speaking section. But i believe a well balanced exam preparation with a focus on the weakest areas would definitely help to boost test scores, if higher scores are needed. Have you already taken the exam?

Really like these sessions! Thank you for all the free resources. Allow me to share one comment. I have to admit that, having practiced with both free practice tests, the preparation time is really unreasonable. To read the tasks, outline our response that the task requires, and jot down some ideas in 30 secs? I am normally at 5 sec left by the time I reach the third step. This is the second type of English test that I've taken and it has prompted the same response and sentiment; and that is, that the test designers should eliminate as many aspects of the test as possible that are not directly related to the test takers' language proficiency. Why test my ability to come up with ideas quickly? Why does speed matter? If we are given more time, we are certainly not going to suddenly speak better and mislead the raters into thinking that we speak better than we actually do. I would argue the opposite, it would actually more accurately show our ability, because we could focus on the actual speaking, which is what really matters. Just a thought.

Hi! I am having my CELPIP exam on September 25th and my target score is 5 for all levels and I'm worried about my speaking skills. I got mental blocked when I started to speak for like 1 minute. Is this issue will affect me to get the 5 points in speaking test?

i dont understanding how task 6 is a difficult situation ? normally this task is to apologize about something we can not do not about advicing or suggesting ?!

Hello! Task 6 is a role play response. The instructions will always explain who you are in the scenario, and who you will be speaking to. You will always need to choose between two different options on the test that will guide the content of your response. The reason that Task 6 is called "Dealing with a Difficult Situation" is because both options provided pose challenges for you, the speaker. You must clearly explain to your listener what your opinion is, and why you feel that way, but you must do so in a respectful, tactful manner to avoid upsetting the listener. You won't necessarily be apologizing for something during this task as you see in the example provided where the speaker must advise the couple to buy either a dog, or a cat, and provide reasons for their choice. - Brandi
