Don’t think Celtic wore number son their shirts until about 94. Until then they never had numbers on shirts. Believe there was outcry when they were made to finally do it. Celtic initially tried to get round the rule by putting numbers on the sleeves - they didn’t want to break tradition by breaking the hoops
