If you made that with a CNC it would be Meh, but the fact that you did it by hand is what impresses me. I own a small CNC woodshop and do projects like this all the time, however, the machine does the heaving lifting. I never carve anything by hand. I think you did a fantastic job!

Great video. Loved the dremel burr to give depth on the ribbons. My comment would be about boiled linseed oil will yellow your piece over time. I would suggest 50/50 tung oil and citrus solvent.

Thanks for the comment, I've never kept any of my projects so a wouldn't know about the colouring, I've used Danish oils and tung oils ..

fishtank5050 I couldn’t buy the CNC bit so ended up buying a Bremel rotary tool and did it that way. I slipped a few times and cut out more than I wanted but as my mums birthday is Tuesday it will have to do. I’ll cut it out with the scroll saw tomorrow and then have a go at sanding the edges with the Bremel. Where did you get the piece that makes the Cnc bit 1/4 inch? I’m keen to be able to try using my router and a bit like that down the track. Thanks
@fishtank50505 жыл бұрын
@@tashapalmer4519 it's called a collet, I get mine from Ebay but Amazon sell them also,I hope your project turned out ok..
@@fishtank5050 I found them on ebay, so thank you. I'll order one soon. I couldn't wait for ebay this time. I finished it last night. What bit were you using on the end of your Dremel to sand? It didn't look like the sanding attachments that came with mine.

The bit shank is 3.175mm so you need an adaptor reducer 6.35mm so they fit a 1/4"shank router..if you check my latest videos I've started putting links in the description 😉
