Bertie has stated he was very impressed after returning from Lisbon in 67 that the team were met by the the rangers chairman John Lawrence, very impressive by rangers, different times then I suppose. But class by John Lawrence.

All I have is walking through the East Kilbride shopping centre, with my wife. I was maybe about 40 at that time. I noticed Bertie walking towards us and I whispered “that’s Bertie Auld”. He seen me and winked, “so it is son”. I could have folded. Absolute legend!

Celtic are a lot more than a football club, every player that pulls the green and white hoops on should listen to men like Bertie AULD. To reach the top agian we must get away from this league and move to the lower divisions in England. Celtic have outgrown Scotland. I had the good fortune to win a day at Celtic Park and lunch with Bertie. He told me and 2 friends endless stories about Big Jock, and playing for Celtic during the Lisbon Lion years. We all traveled from Girvan and as Bertie said his Mum came from Girvan. He told us stories about Our home town. He gave us all such a great day out and I will remember his story telling with his great sense of humour. Top man. Hail Hail Bertie.

I was so, so lucky to have seen Bertie play @ the old Parkhead in late 60's - taken along to my first Celtic games in '66 >>> w/ my late Father & ma' Uncle (God bless them both r.i.p.)... What a player w/ a core of steel running through him from head to toe. He was absolutely a joy to watch & took absolutely nae nonsense fae anyone. An *real* Celtic legend, and as gallus as they come. Brilliant!!!

Had the pleasure of meeting bertie outside celtic Park and I had my young son with me at the time. Bertie asked me what my son's name was and I told it was Daniel and without batting an eyelid he picked him up and started singing Danny boy to him I wish it was I the days of camera phones so I could have recorded it.

My most vivid thought of Bertie was back in 1967, I was just a boy of 14 years of age, me and my school pal travelled into Glasgow for the Celtic vs Dukla Prague Semi Final First Leg and we were standing in the "Celtic End" squashed up against the wall right at the Main Stand Corner Flag, I can still see it yet, as clear as day, Bertie and Wispie (Willie Wallace) standing over the ball ready to take a Free Kick at the edge of the Dukla Prague Penalty Box, Bertie bent down, passed the ball to Wispie and the rest is history.

Retaliate first 🤣🤣🤣 what a wonderful human being this man was. Heart of gold - they don't make them like that any more. Faither in law is the same age - and really similar outlook - jokes urnay as good as Bertie's though. My pal John Haughey had him working in the garage for a few years - and must have been brilliant for business. Bertie talked to everybody coming in as though he knew your family for generations. RIP Bertie . I saw the great man play many times . I always maintain that Bertie was the main reason Celtic won the 1965 final ( I stood in the Mount Florida end , where big Billy headed the winning goal ) . Bertie' s determination that day culminated in his 2 goals and he geed up the other Celtic players with his promoting and urging . Bertie was a winner in every sense of the word .
