she certainly has grown musically and the fact that she does now a song with Marco speaks volume! Way to go!

Great reaction to a great song. I don't speak Finnish, but I can translate the German sentences for you. Patty sings: Ich bin bei dir (I'm with you) Bitte glaub mir (Please believe me) 😀

I'm not familiar with Patty Gurdy, but I saw Marko's name and jumped right on it. I'm glad I did. This was a lovely song and Patty Gurdy's voice is very melodic. As for Marko, well, it's Marko. The man has the ability to harmonize with anyone and shows that ability again here.

I was blown away when I heard that she split from Storm Seeker, a German based Pirate Folk Metal group.

@@lawrencewalston2272 Long long time ago but some will still remember ... Patty is nowadays guest musician for Alestorm. The pirate metal blood runs strong in this one ...

There is an Alstorm song on the Patty album (Peg Leg Silly-Billy), fresh from Jamaica. There is a video for it with Bowes, but it has not been released yet. Overall, the album is soft and poppy, with Celtic influences: Patty Gurdy - Brighter Days Come (Official Music Video, 1st single of the Tavern Album)

Peg-Leg Silly-Billy is not an Alestorm-song, it was written by Patty.
@Mischnikvideos24 күн бұрын
@@Ado_rpg It's a Patty song, but it sounds like Alestorm and shows how well Patty and Alstorm fit together. According to the description, it was written with Bowes and her producer.

It has British Folk influences, that is influences from the folk music of the British Isles. No one knows what actual Celtic music sounded like as the Celtic culture died out centuries ago and would have had many differences as the culture extended from North Africa to Ireland to as far East as what is now Turkey.

@@TheRealRedAce I will be careful not to describe Irish folk as British music. That would get me into trouble with the other ethnic groups. But I could have called it Irish folk instead of Celtic. The Irish market their music from the 17th century as Celtic music and they are also the most successful representatives. Usually the two are equated. In ancient times only the Greeks had good musical notation and even from them we only know one complete song. Everything else is more or less incomplete. The Celts were not suddenly spread across Europe and you could look in the areas of origin. But that is southern Germany and the surrounding area. You have to look for people who call themselves Celts, even though the inhabitants are. The main representatives are the French and there too Irish folk has established itself as Celtic.

@@Mischnikvideos The Irish Republic doesn't recognise the term "British Isles" which is an old error on their part. I understand why they made that error, they simply didn't understand it was a geographical, not a political fact. It's like France not recognising "Europe" or Mexico not recognising "North America." Until they detach the Republic from Northern Ireland and tow it out into the Atlantic, I'm afraid they're in the British isles. Otherwise it would be saying The republic and Northern Ireland are not in the same Island group despite being on the same Island!

One of these "celtic" Musicians is German, the other Finnish! Incidentally, no-one knows what ACTUAL "celtic" music sounded like. Why is ALL folky sounding music commonly described as "celtic"? The Celtic culture died out completely centuries ago. The song is in English, and does sound vaguely like a British folk song - in the style common to all the nations of the British isles. Is that what people mean by "celtic"? Weird. I'm speaking as a British folk musician of mixed Irish/Scots/English heritage. Anyway, this is how most of Patty's songs sound. I really like her music. Good review. :)

I do know she's German but she does describe herself as Celtic Pop so just going with the flow.

@@Jaimunji I imagine someone once decided in error to label British style folk "Celtic" and everyone else followed without thought and took up on it because it sounded good. Its a silly label, but it seems to have become the norm, so I guess were stuck with it now. Its like calling North African music "Neanderthal" or Bluegrass "Native American". Oh well. I got my copy of Patty's album Yesterday. I knew it would be good, but its even better than I expected. The format of the Tavern setting is a great idea and really works. I could see more albums having an alternative video format in future. It seems to be the likely way forward.
