Oh! My goodness. I heard this decades ago, while studying for graduation, when my main pastime was listening to short Wave radio. After that I am hearing it for the first time now. You can't understand the feelings of a man, who had no idea about what kind of a music it was and liked it just because of the haunting tune, who is lucky enough to hear it after several decades! Thanks.

Written by a distant cousin...Dougie MacLean....funny how the association with the movie Last of the Mohicans, makes people think that's what this tune is all about, native Americans....but not so...It's entitled "The Gael" which is one who speaks Gaelic, the language of the Irish and Scottish Highland Celts

This is not Irish music or Celtic Music. It is not "the Gael", it is La Folía or Follia. It is one of the oldest European musical themes on record. It is many hundreds of years old and many hundreds of composers (eg, & randomly chosen ... Vivaldi, Corelli, Handel, Bach, Liszt, Beethoven etc, etc), over the centuries, have used it in their music. It has its own website (which I can't find at the moment) and is here on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folia. Dougie MacLean used it and called it "The Gael". Somehow he claimed, or allowed it to be claimed, that he composed it. He did not.

I was chosen as one of the seekers, I carry millennia of stories to heal on my shoulders, my grandmother passed the backpack to my aunt and she couldn't handle it, now I have to continue with the healing of the clan, I only ask my ancestors for strength to go ahead and fulfill my mission in this life !!!💪🙌♥️🧙‍♀️🧚‍♀️

@@gregkis well bud, i've cross-referenced the version of this song that plays at the exact moment of Alice's jump, and the specific bassline being played at that moment doesn't correspond with any moment of the Trevor Jones version, in fact it corresponds with 5:15 of this here version...

While this piece was used in The Last of the Mohicans it was actually composed by Scottish musician Dougie Maclean. You have to watch all the end credits to see his name mentioned.
@bobtheboomer873
@bobtheboomer873 3 ай бұрын
It was not written by Dougie Maclean. This is not "the Gael", it is La Folía or Follia. He did not.
