Oh! My goodness. I heard this decades ago, while studying for graduation, when my main pastime was listening to short Wave radio. After that I am hearing it for the first time now. You can't understand the feelings of a man, who had no idea about what kind of a music it was and liked it just because of the haunting tune, who is lucky enough to hear it after several decades! Thanks.

Written by a distant cousin...Dougie MacLean....funny how the association with the movie Last of the Mohicans, makes people think that's what this tune is all about, native Americans....but not so...It's entitled "The Gael" which is one who speaks Gaelic, the language of the Irish and Scottish Highland Celts

This is not Irish music or Celtic Music. It is not "the Gael", it is La Folía or Follia. It is one of the oldest European musical themes on record. It is many hundreds of years old and many hundreds of composers (eg, & randomly chosen ... Vivaldi, Corelli, Handel, Bach, Liszt, Beethoven etc, etc), over the centuries, have used it in their music. It has its own website (which I can't find at the moment) and is here on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folia. Dougie MacLean used it and called it "The Gael".
