You know, people always talk about Mairead being the last original member, but I think they're forgetting the drummer! That guy's been there as long as I can remember, and he's awesome, too!

The Gaelic lyrics to this one are apparently along the lines of "Phaidin's wife, may all your bones break!" And they're singing so sweetly!
@johncombs29908 жыл бұрын
+Jess Caron I typed "bean phaidin" in my search engine and came up with several sites that had translations of the lyrics. The version the girls do seems to have some differences in some of the lyrics, though. It could be that lyrics have been rewritten over time and there are several versions of the song.

So true. In the original Gaelic lyrics, she was hunting for Phaidin's wife and said 'may all you bones break'. It was funny, and how the tune is so upbeat. Haha!

With the addition of Eabha McMahon I think this group just came back together and feels like Celtic Woman again. I also think that Susan has gotten better and has found her niche in the group. While the members individual last year was very good it just didn't feel like Celtic Woman.

If your speaking of Lynn Hilary since 2014 her taking over for Lisa Lambe, she is a former original CW member since 2007. Alex and Meav, and Lynn rotated in 2015 for the anniversary tour and are all former past member's. Past member's are Celtic Woman and these 3 have made the sound of Celtic Woman!

For all the non Gaelic people It's a great pity that I'm not, that I'm not It's a great pity that I'm not Páidín's wife It's a great pity that I'm not, that I'm not And the woman that he has to be dead I would go to Galway, to Galway And I would go to Galway with Páidín I would go to Galway, to Galway And I would return in the boat with him [Chorus] Oh, I go to Galway, to Galway, Oh, I go to Galway with Páidín Oh, we go to Galway together And sail away home in a báidín [Chorus] I look through the window, the window I look through the window for Páidín His wife is just sitting there, knitting While I'm stuck outside in the garden I wish I was wedded, was wed, I wish I was wedded to Páidín He's chosen to marry another And that is the cause of my raging I would go to an Clochán And west by Béal Á' na Báighe I would look in through the windows I would spot Páidín's wife [Chorus] I wish he were taken, were taken The beautiful wife of my Páidín He'd not be forsaken, forsaken I'd still take my place there beside him [Chorus] May your legs be broken, be broken May your legs be broken, Páidín's wife May your legs be broken, be broken May your legs and your bones be broken.

This song reminds me of an old one my school used to sing about one of our ancestors. The words were in a different language, but the tune itself was to 'can't fight the moonlight', and had a joyful twist to it. The song itself, however, was about someone seeking revenge for his brother's murder, so he slaughtered the murderer and everyone in his tribe leaving no survivors. :)
