You conveniently forget the crucial section regarding John McGinn actively deciding he wanted to play in England. His manager at the time was none other than a Mr Neil Lennon at Hibs. He is on record as saying that McGinn spoke with him prior to any official bids and stated his desire to make the next part of his football journey "down south" There are 3 main facets to a successful transfer of a player: 1) The selling club must be willing to sell to the prospective buying club 2)The prospective buying club must meet the selling club's final asking price (not value of player but asking price - and that might not be the same for each prospective purchasing club) 3) The player has to actually want and agree to join the buying club. John McGinn was never coming to Celtic because all 3 conditions couldn't be met and John McGinn actively and willingly chose to seek the riches on offer in England. That is his prerogative and entitlement but don't indulge in revisionism to suit your agenda!

Can someone with an intellectually enquiring mind please explain to me why any football manager would actively choose to disclose their player team news prior to the time they are obliged (90 minutes before kick off)? Whilst the continuous media hunger machine these days wishes to deep dive into every managers' knickers, all that responding accurately on this particular question does is provide am advantage to the opposing team and manager and potentially influences their game plan. All a manager has to say is "The team sheet will be provided at the required time!" If the hacks raise objection just tell them"If I was playing you at poker would you expect to see my hand before I play it..?!?!" Unless a player breaks his leg one week in front of the world's eyes, when it is then obvious he won't play in the forseeable future, a club's starting 11 should not be conclusively known until team sheet submission. Every manager plays along these days and I cannot for the life of me understand why...!
