If Steph Curry played back then he wouldn't have the stats he currently has. And if a healthy Larry Bird played in today's NBA he'd dominate the league. The Boston fans loved him because of the way he played. The fans were predominantly blue collar hard working people and Larry was no primadonna. He sacrificed his body through hustle and determination to win and to make everyone on the team better. No one played the game harder, smarter and with intensity like Larry Bird.

@@goldmo2427 Steph would be a great shooter in any era but the 3 point shot wasn't a big part of the game back then. The 3pt shot came into the NBA for the 1979-80 season. It took almost a decade for the coaches to come around and realize the 3 points shot was a weapon. The league leaders back then averaged 2-3 attempts per game until Michael Adams joined the league in 88. He was the first to get 350 attempts in a season. He would not have been what he is now. The rules and coaches wouldn't have let him.

"If the game depended on the shot, I'll take Jordan. If my life depended on that shot, I'm going with Bird" Pat Riley. He came back into that playoff game with the Pacers with a broken cheekbone and a severe concussion and was seeing double. Rumor has it that he sneaked away from the trainer to get back on the court.

In the segment of Larry Bird getting hurt. The announcer states that he is back on the floor with a fracture of the right cheek. That doesn't tell the whole story, Larry made those shots after returning with the eye on the fracture side being completely blurry, he only had complete vision in one eye for the rest of that game. Keep in mind that you need two eyes for depth perception.

Larry did the one thing none of the greatest players of his era could do/duplicate. He beat them all in the championship. Jordan,Pippen, Magic, Jabbar, etc etc etc. No he did not beat them in every championship he faced them in but he did get a championship against each one of the era's greats. I didn't learn that until Bird had been retired a couple years. If I had just thought about all the championships he'd been in it would have jumped out immediately. Funny how the mind sometimes works.
