Until 2020, I sometimes dreamed of migrating to New Zealand, but in 2020 the entire Commonwealth revealed a totalitarianism that I didn't imagine was so ingrained in British culture. I am a brown person born and resident in Brazil, who in 2019 suffered a serious blow from the judiciary against an executive and legislative branch considered populist or fascist (I can concede that there were both traits in the presidency and parliament at the time, but the reaction was dozens of times more marked in this sense... not so much of populism or fascism, but of totalitarianism). Brazil and the... Commonwealth have become technocratic totalitarianisms, captured by some industries through states and elites extremely distant from popular sentiment or even culture. Brazil and the Commonwealth... both in particular and to a considerable extent the West have become vertiginous vertical structures (it is worse in the center of the West, notably Europe, than in its periphery, such as Brazil). The academy, the public administration, the mainstream press... all these institutions that were supposed to generate stability have become radical activists for change that confront the populations. National or popular culture is sometimes hateful and needs to be confronted by elites, but in the absence of real problems to be repressed, problems have been invented (such as microaggressions and toxic masculinity) and persecuting not only "disobedience" but mere divergence. This is the difference between authoritarianism (which demands obedience) and totalitarianism (which demands compliance). It is no longer elegant to agree to disagree. Anyone who disagrees with the "official position" is a traitor and needs to be silenced, re-educated, they do not deserve the most basic "negative" or "anti-state" rights. Sometimes I try to look at the violence imposed by Western elites as "potentially positive". The same goes for the communist parties of the former USSR and the current People's Republic of China. It is in no way a compliment. The fundamental problem is that these horrors are part of the construction of the future... tragically founded on not only making mistakes but on delving into them until the exhaustion of the, retrospectively, obvious dead end.

Coal in England (steam, really) was opposed by the nobility, which had a huge investment in the Atlantic slave trade, and steam power replaced slave labor. Alternative energy is opposed by the oil industry, obviously, and neoliberals. Which is why Obama gave nearly all federal funds for alternative energy research to oil companies, which have (not surprisingly) made no progress with alternative energy sources in the 12 years since. The problem with gain of function research, and the reason Obama banned it, is every gain of function research program is a bioweapons research program. The only difference between the two is intent. Which makes the decision to do the research in China absolutely insane.

"the nobility, which had a huge investment in the Atlantic slave trade" - and then they destroyed the slave trade.

Here in Korea we have that already. Certain KZbin videos are age restricted. Even songs can be age restricted. You must verify your age and phone number.

Your channel just found me. I listened a bit and became interested. I am your neighbors afterall. So the virus was released deliberately imo. I never got any jabs and have never had covid. You brought up about ivermectin which was interesting. Just before covid hit I went to the doctors as I thought I had parasites. He put me on a weeks course of ivermectin. 7 tablets = 70 dollars. Very expensive. Just thought I would bring that up as I think it is interesting. Like what you had to say, and hope I come across you again.

do yourself a favor and google "mike pesca michael schellenberger" or "jesse singal michael shellenberger" i posted the links to their pieces on this fraud, but i think youtube takes them down, maybe even auto. quillette on the other hand, has been a generally quite interesting outlet for years now. i dont know why they would be so interested in what mr schellenberger has to say given his extensive history of playing loose with facts and making obviously false claims. again, mike pesca, jesse singal. both have pieces on a youtube competitor that starts with the word "sub", and ends with the word "stack".
