I don't think I'll ever understand why people think that "full-sized" pots in guitar are a yardstick. The relevant metric against which to measure pots is tolerance, not the size of the enclosure. CTS, typically considered the gold-standard for pots, sells small-footprint potentiometers. Aside from that, excellent review.

Dave - That's a cool budget guitar, Bro. I dig it! Might have to check one of these out at some point. That thing sounds hot. It seems to rawk. I like the way the harmonics were sounding with the EVH style tapping - and the Ratt tones were CRUSHING! Loved that. I actually yelled... "Rock ON" in the middle of that one riff. I think that's what Pearcey muttered on the record.... Anyway - cool. Great vid! Pumpkins rule!

Are the pickups in it a standard size? Was thinking of buying one of these and dropping some Seymour Duncan Invaders in it and didn't want to have to mod the pickups and definitely not have to enlarge the pickups slots in the guitar body.

Can anyone comment on fret sprout? Another reviewer said the side of the fretboard was very bumpy and therefore his neck was very uncomfortable to play.

I found saomething like this wioth locking tuners. this has me interested now. For my dads first "solid guitar" You think it's worth the price? He currently hhas a "Zeny" Strat from a 80 dollar bundle. It plays though, but Ithink something likethis will do him worlds better. Just got him an old Crate amp too. Im a metal guy, but that flat fretboard, I bet this would be a good cheap guitar to put a B Bender in and use a slide

How is the Pickups in the relic?..almost got the Purple one

@@Dave6SS they seem to be ok. But I’ve only tried it through a digital positive grid battery powered amp. I got the purple one. I ended up doing some more relicing on the metal parts, hit it with a hammer & screwdriver handle, etc. Rusted the metal parts with muriatic acid. I’ll have some pictures in the Amazon review section soon. It did snap a couple high e & b strings. Had to adjust the bridge a little.

So you didn't find any fret buzz either? It was shocking that Sean from Scar my Guitar took a fret rocker and didn't find any uneven frets. For less than $200 USD! And of course they're rounded stainless so there's no fret sprout. They are pretty highly rated on Amazon unlike other electric other cheap electric guitars. I guess my only concern is that the neck seems to be a bit wide. I kind of like the smaller necks like Ibenez.
