I have this same issue on my Paradigm Prestige center speaker so this video at least gives me ideas on what I can try before buying a new center speaker. The Paradigm Premier 500C has no ports which seems like it could be ideal for folks like us who have their center speaker below the TV in a cabinet. For the time being, I'm going to go buy some of those sponges and plug the ports just to see how much clearer my current center gets. Thanks for the info Carl!

Thank, let me know how it goes. It completely cleared up my issues, so right now I'm happy.

Your remark about Audyssey saying you have an out of phase speaker due to the port impulse being at a different time is correct. That’s what lead me to look at the phase of my speakers and I decided that they measured better and sounded better with the ports plugged. Because what happens is the sound from the speaker goes out to the mic, then the sound comes out the port and bounces off the wall then that hits the mic. And it’s out of phase with itself. Have you ever tried magic beans true target? When I had a tv and a media center like you, I had a bookshelf speaker (not horizontal speaker) and that got me good clarity. Because horizontal speakers aren’t the best. I had it on a short stand in front of the cabinet aimed up at me. I tried it above the tv and that was pretty good too.

Good point. I may set distance and phase with ports plugged and see how different it is. I have used it yes, but I need to check out the new version.

Sometimes I question should I have ever gone down this rabbit hole! Now I have become an obsessive with this EQ business.

LOL, me too. It never ends, trust me.

Carl, thank you for your video 👍 Could you share your center channel target curve with us? And would it also fit in the Minidsp 2x4 HD? The curve looks pretty good 😁
If you consider the age change of perceived loudness wouldn't the upper end roll-off of the house curve be suitable only for young people?

Good question. Can really depend on your hearing to be honest. I find that using the roll-off makes it sound more natural, so I must be hearing up to at least 18K still. But you could experiment.

Hi carl, have you tried Audyssey one yet ?

Not yet no. I'd like to know what target curve he is using.

@hdmoviesource6 ай бұрын
It's a combination of the Harmon Target Curve and the Wisdom Audio Target Curve. I'll make a video on how I made it soon.

100% it's better yes. To me, it sounds analog. If you want the link I have it on my Google Drive: drive.google.com/file/d/1VEOUFRhKI0IZ_QspP_aGhCkGhqtOwmyq/view?usp=sharing
