Just had this player delivered today!!! Watched this whole video while setting up and probably the most mundane, boring, put me to sleep video I could have absolutely needed!!! Absolutely fantastic!!! Great job and I hope you keep the content coming. My first Demo will be Ready Player One 🎥 🍿 🔊🔊 setup with 65" LGG2, 7.4.4 surround system, Denon, Emotiva, SVS and now Panasonic 🔥 Thank you again from Detroit, Michigan

Have you done dirac live with your new A1H? And NAD has a target curve you could upload aswell. I found the NAD target to work superb with music and storm woth movies.

Not yet, one day I will, not sure when yet though. I'd like to see more videos of people calibrating with Dirac.

@hdmoviesource I measured the distance to the center speaker using a laser meter, then using signals generated from REW, I determined the distances to L and R. There were still detected distance difference on the order of several millimeters. From what I saw, the distance resolution in Audyssey distance is an inch. Thanks to the fact that these two speakers are floor-standing, I additionally changed their actual distance so that the distance analysis from REW showed me exactly 0. Then I remeasured using the Atmos test signals you use, and unfortunately it turned out that L and R are not perfectly matched again. So I have a question for you, in terms of matching speaker distances, which measurement method is more reliable, swipes from REW, or swipes from Atmos mp4 files? P.S. And two more things since I’m writing to you, I found a very cheap and tiny laser with a pipe mount that fits perfectly on the narrower part of the UMIK-1 microphone. I think thanks to this, we will be able to aim the microphone at the speaker much better than you showed. I haven’t tested yet whether attaching the laser affects the measurements. I paid less than 6 dollars. The second thing is that when you set the distance to the speaker using MultEQ-X, loading all the settings into the amplifier takes a lot of time. I think the process could be sped up by setting the next distances to test in the web interface of the amplifier and only after determining the final distance, setting it in MultEQ-X so that it is remembered in your calibration files.

Im suprised you werent bothered by the sanus stand reflections. In the video, i think the reflections from the sanus mount metal surface is bigger of a "immersion ruiner" experience for me atleast. Definitely fixable, take a roll of triple black velvet over it to cover it. I think you should also velvet your side walls, until the distances you sit at, if possible. So velvet side walls infront of you, back of you and side walls behind your head doesnt matter. Same to ceiling. Also, you could do the electrical tape as people mentioned, but yeah that silver bezel sucks... The velvet behind the TV, do you feel its better in a curtain style like that, or if it was flat. You probably have windows back there, so you cant choose, it has to be curtain style, but if it was a wall, would you be better off straight velvet with the TV wall mounted on the wall to avoid all possible reflections and feel like looking into the void?
@hdmoviesource
@hdmoviesource 4 күн бұрын
Yeah, I didn't like the stand either. I think velvet would work well yes. I'll look into that. I have windows behind that yes, so the curtain work great. I specifically told the installer that I can't have nay light coming through, and it's very good.

If you consider the age change of perceived loudness wouldn't the upper end roll-off of the house curve be suitable only for young people?
@hdmoviesource

Good question. Can really depend on your hearing to be honest. I find that using the roll-off makes it sound more natural, so I must be hearing up to at least 18K still. But you could experiment.

@@Yakena1 yeah. If you like to tinker and experiment I think MQX is the best. If you want to let the room correction software do it all, I believe Dirac will be the best choice.

This is a phenomenal video. I keep rewatching the video and replaying certain elements to understand it better. One quick question what did you set the crossovers to before you start the calibration? I'm aware you set the sub to -10 and LPF to 120Hz but can't seem to find what you set the crossovers to eg. 250Hz???
@hdmoviesource
@hdmoviesource 12 күн бұрын
LPF for LFE to 250hz for calibration, then back to 120 once finished.

Hello Carl, don´t get me wrong but do you control the mic from the denon, with messuring with the umik 2 ? Uncalibrated to calibrated.... maybe the umik 2 has a more accurate look on 10k and above. Like your videos 😊
@hdmoviesource
@hdmoviesource 19 күн бұрын
For the Denon it's using the Audyssey mic, and when I measure from the PC I use the UMIK 2. I use a calibration file for the UMIK. I definitely think the UMIK is more accurate Michael.

I really prefer clicking "level phase at cursor". It removes the same amount of delay from each measurement while using the tool. Further, i prefer to manually adjust the sliders and polarity. Checking impulse mainly as a sanity check. Or to get it close before perfecting phase alignment.

@@hdmoviesource Very much appreciated! It's a great feature, so much potential, it just needs some tweaks to make it useful for a wider range of content, the rules it was designed around don't really exist any more, it's the wild west now 😅 Quick question, would you be interested in making a video on the accuracy of the ACM1HB Audyssey Mic using OCA's ACM1HB_90deg_calibration file in REW vs your UMIK-2? Obviously the UMIK-2 is a better mic but would be interesting to see how far off the Audyssey Mic is using OCA's Mic Calibration file, from what I understand there are variances in all Microphones. Thanks
