Congrats rob ! What do you like about the Suzuki outboards?
@deermeatfordinner6 жыл бұрын
I got a great 6 year warrantee and I can’t find anybody who’s ever broke one! My dad, both brothers and a ton of friends have them... all happy! Hard to argue. Outboard specialties were far above the competition in recommendations!
@patrickg24126 жыл бұрын
I have new Suzukis on all my boats from my 9.9, 140, and 350s. ive never had one problem with any of them and I only go to outboard specialties when getting them serviced! but I did have a lower unit go out on me on my Buddys 2005 250 with over 1500 hours on it last week
@fjjbikerider6 жыл бұрын
definitely cant go wrong there. i update my rig with 4 250s haul almost 20 people for snorkeling including all gear. warrantees are not honored not even offered in continental Africa once off the shipping container. but run true every time but they can be thirsty, at least from my experience but when 20 miles out...the running is more important
@richclay79286 жыл бұрын
Great endorsement. Makes me feel better since I just ordered a 150 to repower my boat. Like the six year warranty and I got a $300 rebate.

I've been watching your videos for years and they've. Always brought me comfort. I fell down the wrong path in life lost my passion of fishing along the way. A few months ago my father was diagnosed with stage 3 small cell lung cancer and it opened my life to how much we take for granted on the daily basis. I've been making better choices in life and in blessed to be where I am today. Its so hard to watch lived ones go threw this. We don't know how much longer he has with us but I'm making the best out of every day. I've gotten back into fishing which is my form of meditation it seems to be helping. Anyways thank you so much, Rob, Sarah, Air, Emma. I'm very grateful to have your videos as they truly do help. God bless you and your family :)

I am glad you found a shop that is run by honest people and the boat does look good. One thing everyone should be aware of though is that the original fuel tank installation and the new fuel tank installation were both in violation of US Coast Guard rules and of the ABYC Technical Standards that are followed by all reputable builders. It is against both rules to support a fuel tank with flotation foam! It is also considered bad practice to foam aluminum fuel tanks into boats, even though this has been a common practice for decades now. The correct way to do it is to build a support platform under the tank above the normal accumulation of bilge water and then mount the tank on neoprene strips (I usually specify 3/8" thick as the rules require 1/4" of space). Fasten the tank in with either blocking with neoprene between the tank and all blocking or better yet, have mounting flanges welded to the tank during manufacturing. The compartment should have air holes cut into the frames/stringers for ventilation and drain holes to allow water to flow out of the compartment. Nothing should touch the tank but air and the neoprene! If installed this way, it doesn't even need to be painted or coated in any way. I have been designing boats for over 30 years and it really gets disheartening seeing these bad practices continue. I recommend the guys at Karma Kustoms spend a few hundred dollars a year and join ABYC. They'll get a copy of the technical standards and possibly save themselves some grief down the line. If they ever get sued, they'll wish they had followed the standards! I am not trying to bad mouth KK as it looks like they did a great job on all the rest of the boat, I just want to see them and all the other shops follow the Federal safety rules so people don't get hurt. Good luck with the boat and I hope you get another 20 years out of it!

@Rattlerjake15 жыл бұрын
Too many comments to go through them all, but why is it that no one EVER tells what the cost to do a restore like this is? It would be nice to hear what kind of paint they used, is the new tank stainless and what was it painted/coated with, could show us how they solved the clogged water problem in the belly of the beast, what foam product they used, what flooring they used, show the new access areas to clean out future clogging problems, etc. I do my own restores because I can't afford the luxury of having someone else do it - but guys like this can give valuable pointers for us DIYers. Would also be great to know where they obtain many of their products (might be worth advertising dollars for you too).

So happy for you. My parents bought a 1978 mako 23 when I was 12. I've been rebuilding it one small project at a time and just completed the major restoration late last year that took 18 months. It just sank 3 weeks ago and I've had so many sleepless nights. We feel very blessed no one was hurt and feel god sank our boat because something much worst was coming. Boats like these that have so much sentimental value can't be replaced. I wish you and your family many safe and fun years on her. God bless.

Only thing I am confused about is why anyone would give this video a thumbs down. Brackish TV I'm in Miami I recently did a restoration of a 13.5 Nautica rib for a client. The restoration is gonna cost him half of what a new rib will. He's getting new engine new upholstery and new tubes. Essentially his boat is " almost new" for half the price

Alfred Montaner I use a 17-18 foot Avon rib for work. It’s really run down. The tubes have tons of patches and are completely faded and the seats are all ripped and stuff. Do you have an estimate for the price to restore this boat?

Rob, you're going to love the new motor. Mike and the guys at OBS are great guys to deal with. Had twin reporter done by them and they are always there to help with anything I need. Great channel by the way

Congrats on the boat rebuild. It looks really nice. Look forward to seeing many fishing videos! Red snapper and tuna!
