Scanning with the new Cerec gives amazing accuracy- but so can these materials.

Do you not take a 2nd impression with polyether because of the cost? Also, why not make the solid model with polyether or the same material as the first impression? Since it's the same material wouldn't it be better to make comparison? Thanks Dr

I take the second impression with reversible hydrocolloid because 1) my assistants do not need to fabricate a second custom tray, 2) the cost of a PE impression is much greater than the cost of a reversable hygdrocolloid impression and 3) both impression materials are very accurate. I take 2 reversible hydrocolloid impressions if I am impressing only 1 crown, veneer or inlay. I only take a polyether impression followed by a reversible hydrocolloid impression if there a 2 or more prepared teeth being impressed. Take your practice to the Top Tier. When you say reverse hydrocolloid won't impress deep because it will tare, does it mean that it's not recommended to use it for sub gingival preps? Thanks
@centerforard
@centerforard 4 ай бұрын
Reversible hydrocolloid. It is very accurate, but if the margin of the prep is more than 1mm subgingival, then use the body reversible hydrocolloid in a scutan plastic syringe with the tip of the syringe cut off to squirt on the preparation prior to placing the tray with the body impression material in the tray. The body material is stronger than the wash material. Take your practice to the Top Tier. Good morning dr cutbirth,i tried the materials you mentioned .i have 2 questions: Why can't these lab prepare us a special tray from the mock up model. Second: when i used the impregum using the aluminium foile,u wool get an impression which is without the teeth in it , then u will it with the soft garrant material ,or is there a step missing . I appreciate your work very much. Thanks a lot

Watch the video carefully. 1. study model covered in tin foil (2 thicknesses), 2. impression of covered study model with body polyether in a President's plastic tray, 3. Use the custom polyether tray within 1 day, 4. take the impression on the prepared teeth by adding body polyether covered with light body polyether flowed into the custom tray. Be sure the teeth and soft tissue are a little damp because polyether is hydrophilic. Take your practice to the Top Tier. Hi Dr. Cutbirth. My entire post and core is falling out during Covid. Dangling. Post attached firmly to crown. Everywhere closed. How do I keep it stuck in until Dentist reopens? Any advise? Thanks!

Water circulation for the reversible hydrocolloid. You can use certain combinations of syringable reversible hydrocolloid and alginate as the body tray material, but I assume Dr Cutbirth has the old machines for reversible hydrocolloid and prefers to use that.

Correct, reversible hydrocolloid impression material. The trays have water channels connected to a hose, allowing cool water to run through the tray, causing the impression material to set. Deadly accurate impressions.
