One of the reasons that I never promoted was that the department became your life. It is too easy to become institutionalized. I left that world and I am happy that I did so. I am eyes wide open about the world and the monsters that live out there. It was nice to reminisce with your video and now I will go back to ignoring that world.

I worked as a Psych Tech at CDCR for 9 years. First at CCI then LAC. If you get stuck in the trap of living above your means, especially if you're taking all the endless amounts of overtime. It gets very hard to leave. Not to mention after years you've put in you can try to convince yourself it's worth the mental and physical strain. As someone who worked in medical I started to realize within the last year more than ever, big wigs are PRO INMATE. They comb through our charting with a fine tooth comb looking for literally any reason to write you up, take money or even worse take your job on the inmates behalf. I was blessed to find a new job in my field that paid decent elsewhere. Not the same as the state but at least I have my sanity back. Also, I can come home feeling good about my day and not having to come home and unpack or suppress all the hostility from 8 or 16 hour shifts in a place that doesn't value me as an employee.
