Good day LT! I work for the BOP. We have this type of stuff happening at my facility now where CO’s are starting to get suspended because of using force. Incident reports look good, video looks good. But for some reason there’s still suspensions. I have a feeling that soon people are going to start getting fired especially after the pay raise we got that has us making as much as CDCR now. I hope not because I turned down a cdcr offer back in 2021 and was feeling good about it until now. There’s only so much we can do and even if we follow policy we’re still getting in trouble. Bullshit.

CDCR is a good job. It provides good pay, retirement and medical. Yes staff put up with a lot of BS from inmates and Admin staff however your career is what you make of it. The best thing is to get out of uniform as fast as you can and make it to retirement. It has it days like all jobs.

I've listened to the podcast "On our Watch" that Hector is referring to. The podcast was done by television station KQED. KQED is located in San Francisco, CA. Will KQED ever do a story or podcast regarding staff assaults in CDCR? Especially the most recent ones in 2024. You can find the podcast on many major platforms.

I came across a podcast by accident, Vicki Gonzalez interviewed two women reporters from KQED. The women reporters investigated the CSP Sacramento incidents. The podcast was from Capradio of Sacramento. Hector was eluding to his audience about the KQED (On our Watch Podcast). I was going to send an email to Hector about the KQED podcast, but Hector was way ahead of the game. I'm glad Hector talked about the KQED podcasts. I'm also elated that Hector mentioned that inmates lie. I feel the staff of KQED believed the inmates a little too much. Although, one reporter called out an inmate's B.S with a crazy and unreliable narrative he was trying to push. Keep up the great work Hector! From what I understand, Google Podcasts will merge with You Tube in early April of 2024. The KQED podcast (On out Watch) will be readily available on You Tube.

I worked as a youth worker with 13-18yr olds in state care who had behavioural issues. I know it's nothing like what COs put up with, but I was taught if it's not written in your case notes, it didn't happen. I learned that quick smart & memorised policies & and procedures so I knew where I stood. Co- workers will throw you under the bus if their ass is on the line. So, having a solid worker on shift can make all the difference.

As a juvenile in the New Mexico justice system, I got down with 3 corrections officers/counselors. They were hood. Beat my ass, i didn't stop coming, though, but it was mad respect afterward. I was one of the only ones who ran his mouth but was ready to go. I caught 3 aggravated A&Bs on Peace Officers as a juvenile, too. Once a C.O. did bust my whole face up and all that. But, i was drunk and beating up the other guy in the holding tank. Crazy shit as a kid.

The fact that there's prison c.o gangs and street police patrol gangs should be even a bigger problem than what we see as civilians. The one's that are supposed to bring order and upholding the law breaking it should be held at a higher standard than anyone else. Instead we see cover ups after cover ups. You’re correct about the state hospitals and state police. I believe they do the same functions as a correction officer, they just call them “state police”.

state hospitals are under the jurisdiction of state hospital police, they are peace officers however due to the penal code they are unable to carry weapons on duty. CDCR has inmates in these hospitals and provide armed coverage for them on their property's.

cos in 2019 who let prisoners Rodriguez and Taylor kill another prisoner shackled to chair don't happen either. Cos start the job with professionalism and after couple years on job SOME cos start talking n walking with oil swagger and acting like a gangster and professionalism goes out the window. Those cos let that hit go down they accused inmate of being sexual offender (which he was not) to other inmates. He also assaulted staff on two different occasions in weeks prior.
