Central Tilba's Vintage Phone Box, NSW South Coast, Australia

One of the last remaining vintage public phone boxes still in use in New South Wales, in the Heritage listed village of Central Tilba on the New South Wales South Coast, Australia. Sol Ramana-Clarke tells the story of how the vintage phone box was saved from being replaced by a modern phone box by Telstra, which would have detracted from the heritage ambience of the village, popular with many tourists. The telephone booth itself has become somewhat of a tourist drawcard.

I was thinking the same thing when I realized there's no concrete pad to it as in how do they get over the grass?

A pity that the signwriter mis-spelt "Telephone" as "Telaphone" on one side. Surely a qualification for being a signwriter is being able to spell.

I'm pretty sure they did it on purpose. but I want to know how does that qualify for being up to specifications if it's spelled wrong?

I just keep imagining that some guy told them “It must be to this standard” and the guy building it was like we’ll see I’m gonna do something and we’re gonna see if you notice…. A year later the guy is like it’s misspelled it’s misspelled but I already gave them permission.

@@zaprodk My comment was so long ago I had to look it up to recall it. But I still don't get why they would misspell it deliberately. It must be a very subtle joke.
