Playing in her upper register with a nice mellow tone at about mf dynamics, at times varying it to f or mp. She cut some of the notes short at the end of a phrase, but otherwise it was superb. I read where she's playing in some groups around Seattle now.

When Buddy Rich decided to move Rick Stepton from the jazz trombone chair to lead, because he loved his phrasing and thought that he'd be a great section leader, Stepton expressed his concern that he didn't have the range to perform that solo to Buddy's standards. So Buddy told him, don't worry, we'll just cut that out of the chart. And so he did. I think it goes up to a 5th leger line D.
