John & Cora split last year's monster swarm hive after it swarms with multiple queens. See them split with queen cells, hear a piping queen, and switching hive locations for the split.

Another great job Cora!!! A heck of a snag of that queen. Nothing you learn is a waste, learn as much as you can. What also great is by teaching Cora, you're also helping to teach others that may not have the guidance.

Hello John , I think it was two years ago I had a bad season with my queens. Well this season is doing the same. I think most just did not make it back from there mating flight. I have not had but one swarm but I have got four swarm. Cora is going to end up with fifteen to twenty colonies down the road the way she is going. As always John I appreciate your video’s I just enjoy seeing what other Bee keepers are doing with their Bees an how there season is going. It is great seeing a family out doing thing together an enjoyable time together. Thanks

I love watching the family shenanigans..you're such a great family. Loved watching this. It's snowing here in Alberta today but we've had warm weather already and the bees were gathering willow pollen and poplar pollen. Can't wait for the spring blooms after the snowy days.

This has been a good year for me while splitting a hive I had a swarm come across my neighbors yard take residence up in the box I had prepped. In 10 years of beekeeping thats the first time I've had that happen. It was incredible. Getting ready to pack my hives up and head to the homestead in Kentucky. Two more days.

Really enjoyed watching you take care of that hive that swarmed. that is where i get most of my queens. If you can check a hive right after it swarms as a rule there will be 6 or more cells ready to hatch. It sure makes a split take off a lot faster than a walk away. You work'em exactly the same as me.

About the question when it will hatch, not for at least several hours, otherwise you would hear piping.

Great video, as usual. I love them all. I'm so sorry to hear about Pistol. Fellows like him aren't pets. They are members of the family. I don't know the date this video was made or the air temp in Arkansas, but my OCD kicked in anyway when I saw those cells exposed to the weather for so long. They were likely fine, but I worried anyway.

We do miss Pistol, and yes he had made family status. Brood was fine, just cloudy that day if remember correctly wasn't to cool for the them. Sure wasn't to cool for them to swarm. lol Thanks for watching

I have the same situation. I had a hive swarm and was able to capture and rehive that swarm. While Inspecting the mother hive I found queen cells. Being a double deep I left 2 cells in bottom put a super on then the other deep on top with 2 queen cells. I removed all other queen cells. I noticed that you left multiple cells in a hive. Can you have too many queen cells in a hive or do you just allow them to fight it out for the strongest queen remaining. Upon another inspection I did find a virgin queen that did emerge. If I find 2 queens in this hive should I split the hive or let them fight things out? I found this video very interesting and informative
@CentralBeekeepersSupply
@CentralBeekeepersSupply Ай бұрын
I left one and added two, because I was unsure of one. I personally leave single virgin queen if I find her and tear down cells. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

@@CentralBeekeepersSupply It just hit the nail on the head because I found a huge queen. I assume she had been mated because 3 times in size of first emerged queen.some others do keep multiple cells to requeen , just in case something happens. I did hear her piping
