I wire my Langstroth brood frames with the wire going horizontally. Pretty well bulletproof. When I've used pre-wired foundation I find the wax is nowhere near as robust and has a bit of a tendency to come out at the bottom, particularly if the bees prefer a traverse gap at the bottom of the comb. I much prefer wired frames, except in shallow Langstroth supers where I don't wire at all. Mediums I use wired frames.

Hi, you can just connect the poles one time to the 2 ends of metal rope (usually there are nails there). And if you have the foundation non well flat you can put during the job over the frame a wood plank or somtingh flat with certain weight. BR Ugo

Just done a quick calculation and inc p+p these are about £33 delivered for 10 where as thornes are £35 plus p+p and on ebay for second frames plus wired wax its about £28 and you still have to build both those up and to clean and change wax is a pain on normal frames so id say this i a no brainer. Can you just re heat the wire till the old comb drops out then warm new foundation in? I think that would be a huge selling point youve missed if im right.

You'r right, you can de-wax old wax with this method.

If you make a jig for the frame, you could have the connectors already connected and just have a power button your press, then when you let off it stops the connections, then its drop in press button take the frame out, like 2 or 3 seconds per frame. To explain how you connected the pos and neg, top and bottom, you just make a wood holder the same size as the frame, then put metal contacts top and bottom at opposite ends of the frame, then have a button on the positive side so drop in the frame press the button its done, next
@Delibro8 ай бұрын
Oh that's such a good idea :)) So its basically 4 seconds work per frame :)

I've been buying pre-built frames with foundation in since I got my first hive last year. I'm dyspraxic so could never hope to assemble them myself.

And there handy if you're doing cut outs. Cut out a section, two elastic bands. Job done.

Hi, I have a really bad tempered Hive and i am going to get rid of the Queen. if when i get rid of the queen, can i introduce a frame with a not fully capped queen cell at the same time? I will be greatful for any advice. Regards

A frame of eggs will be enough from another hive. But there needs to be no original eggs in the hive to be sure they use the new frame

I suppose it will be down to the cost of these compared to the traditional ones. Time saved is of course worth something but if you have the time, and room for some extra cash in your pocket, then some might prefer that.
