Thank you for the video, i'm from Brazil, and i have these headphones for ever, when the battery was dead, i thought that i will never have a good headphone anymore, "they are really expensive im Brazil, like 2 minimum wages". But then i see the video, ha bought a battery in ebay. With no expertice in soldering or any eletrical repair i done. And my precious headphones came back to life. You made me very happy, i wish you dream tonight knowing that you helped someone. Keep the good work ! (Sorry for the broken English)

Got my battery yesterday. Installed it this afternoon with no issues. I thought I'd try some electrical tape to put the top of the battery case back on incase I need to do this again. The headphones work and are charging as I type. Funny story. The eight year old battery was at 50 percent when I left the gym on Wed. When I got on the treadmill and tried to turn them on this morning, nothing. Tried to charge them, nothing. The old battery knew just when to fail.😂

WARNING: Be extremely careful when heating the glue better use some capton tape to protect the speaker. I melted mine slightly which results in a extremely loud squeaky noise. The only way to fix this is to replace the speakers which is even harder than the replacement of the battery. If you don’t have the tools and the skill to do repairs like this, better don’t replace the battery

I tried but due to health problem my hands shake quite a bit and I'm not quite as accurate as I used to be. I tried to perform the procedure but when I turn the headphones on, they emit a loud whistling sound instead. Any idea where this could come from? Due to my sloppy handiwork I might have accidentally put tin where it shouldn't be, connecting stuff that shouldn't be connected. But I'm not an expert enough to know for sure. Any idea?

Not too difficult at all. You can watch a few how to videos on youtube to get the hang of it. You can buy soldering kits for fairly cheap that will work, no problem. It's a really handy skill to have for future repairs.
@MikkoRantalainen
@MikkoRantalainen 2 жыл бұрын
You should probably practice using the soldering iron for an half an hour on some old electronics first (a broken clock or anything with small wires will do just fine). And get some no-clean soldering flux to make things a lot easier. The more flux you have on the thing you're trying to solder, the easier it will be solder. And the no-clean flux is stuff that doesn't need to be removed with alcohol after the soldering is done which is why you want that for small spaces like this one. If you get regular flux and never remove it, it may destroy the solder joint in a year or two if you're unlucky. I think it's because regular flux is mild acid and it will damage the solder in long run if left on the solder. And get good tweezers because these parts are too small for your fingers.

Did QC35 loose all settings when the old battery was disconnected? I mean, all paired devices, etc. I have a weird "problem" in my QC35. When qc35 is off the battery led light is always on, solid red. Even if the battery is full. I'd like to disconnect the battery and see what happens. Have tried to reset, old and new firmwares. No results 😕

I personally dislike any product that is planned to be obsolete on purpose. However I do not see it here, as the batteries just do die over time, there is no battery technology that would be forever. Especially Li-Ion and Li-Po based batteries, you cannot expect many years from those, so eventually the day will come that the battery has come to the end of its road and just needs replacing. The manufacturer of the product can't ever really stop this process from happening. If Bose had really wanted to do this impossible in the form like Apple has done with the AirPods - yes, that is in my view clear planned obsolescence and just an a-hole way to make a product. Here, the construction of the headphones is actually fairly simple, and as a person who works with electronics design, I see this replacement work as being at the easy end of the spectrum. They could have done this another way so that you need to destroy the headphones to get to the battery - but they didn't. This is a great way to give new life to the product and let a good product live for a long time. I have these headphones also and they are in heavy use, and someday this work comes for me to do as well. I was happy to see how easy the work is and can do it anytime.
