This kind of content deserve much attention and acknowledgement. To tell you all, honestly this lad here is saving every engine crew specially young engine cadets from being maltreated, bullied, discriminated due to lack of knowledge, inexperience and low self-esteem. This is what everybody must be doing and be having as an example. No selfishness, no bragging, just pure helping and sharing. Because sharing of knowledge does not only increases the range of understanding of those who are in need, but also it inspires them to be like one.

I would also like to raise that if there is a leak within the purifier then there could be an abnormality with the water to close system which could result to an untimely opening of the discharge port on the sides of the purifier even during the centrifugation as this ports should only be opened once the separation process is done.
@ShrimptoShark4 жыл бұрын

@ShrimptoShark Жыл бұрын
Troubleshooting remotely is difficult however check by seeing if there is no strange leaks from the sightglass - discharge hole, maybe also the water seal has been broken or not there at all due to no displacement water going, there are a lot of tests that need to be done. Sorry for the late reply but maybe someone in the future will read this.

the purifier same like when i was cadet, but the common trouble was the pressure inside the purifier because the outlet valve so sensitive i dont know why its so hard to set the pressure outlet
@ShrimptoShark4 жыл бұрын
Yes this is true! The outlet valve is very sensitive for internal pressure, but usually if bowl and pilot valve overhauls are done regularly these purifiers are very stable and sometimes in 1 contract only need 1 or 2 cleanings.

Man, we did whatever we can to avoid those LSFO to mix up with current oil but it still did, produced a bunch of muds, clogged strainer and filters, almost clogged my precious Sludge Tk to Bilge Oil Tk pipe, and finally fucked up my favorite No.1 & No.2 W.O. Tks plus Sludge Tk. Then overhauled the sweet Mitsubishi purifier weeks after we'd changed the gravity disc. I hate my job so much sometimes and I wonder why this can't be avoided 100% or is it the 10% makes me feel that stressful, so I'm starting to doubt if I'm the one for this kind of jobs :p
@ShrimptoShark4 жыл бұрын
Hahaha oh my God I have never seen that happen because the vessels I have been on didn't use LSHFO, only MGO in ports and HFO in navigation.. Now with the new rules of MARPOL 6 I really don't see many companies using LSHFO now unless they implement a Chimney exhaust scrubber. Anyway, thanks for sharing the experience sounds like a wild ride.. I understand the feeling that pressure starts to build up when problems arise but coming home after a good contract with nice savings and sharing experiences with family and friends is a wonderful feeling that I could only get with this job.

Sir how temperature affects working of purirfier
@ShrimptoShark Жыл бұрын
Hello my friend temperature in the purifier is very important especially for HFO.. If it is too cold then you could risk heavy sludge deposits and therefore more frequent cleanings. If it is too high then the water starts to evaporate in the fuel making it difficult to separate causing water in fuel alarms.
