This would have been helpful back in 1996 when I went through the US Navy's Machinist Mate school. On our ship we used these as Main Engine Lube Oil Separators. The huge reduction gears ran in a bath of lube oil and this is how we cleaned that oil.

I enjoyed this a lot. But I can't seem to catch where you explain the point of the gravity disc (which is at the top as far as I understood), even though it's apparently very important, since that allows the separation of fuel from water and not just debris.

Great work as always mate 👍 We use these to clean up tallow. Do the fuel separators also use water discharging to clean themselves? After about 8hrs of work the tallow becomes cloudy so we need to force water throughout it and clean it to continue use.

They can. Different design (self-cleaning/auot-desludging). Discussed briefly in the purifier course. For HFO, auto desludging is needed.

Your graphic is beautiful but the video needs a few touch ups: I am an Alfa Laval Service Engineer for over 25 years. I would like to help you to add some information and correct some nomenclature. Otherwise, that's a beautiful graphic. Haven't seen any thing from the factory like that. Looking forward to your reply.

The publisher has made a great video as always. However, I'm pretty sure that it will be better to let the brake be in use during the whole stopping process. Just to minimize time at resonance frequency rpm:s. A vibrating bowl is a great danger. When fully stopped the brake must be released though. Can you confirm or correct this information?

Jon. There's no doubt that your 3D models are a million miles from the old black and white drawings and photos that I learned from and are even better than actually dissembling a machine in that your models can show hidden passages that would not be obvious or even visible to the engineering trainee. However, I'm not being rude, but your commentary tends to be a bit monotonous. I'm not expecting you to go all american on us, but a little enthusiasm goes a long way. In any case you are still my go-to channel to find explanations of marine plant.
@savree-3d2 жыл бұрын
Thanks David (I think)! I recorded five videos in a single day and this was the last one, so my fatigue might have been heard. This video was also part of a purifier video course, which took several months to make. After doing nothing but purifiers for two months, the enthusiasm dwindles. Should probably leave a bit more gap between video recordings and also between topics. Food for thought.
