It was such an honor to have one of the most LEGENDARY vocalists on KZbin, Jonathan Young himself, singing on my arrangement! It's still just so surreal to me, there seriously isn't a more perfect feature for this song. And as always, working with these incredible guys and getting to call them not just bandmates but close friends of mine is something that I will always appreciate, and I wouldn't have it any other way. ❤️ Stay tuned for next Monday! 👀

@robertofiend12642 жыл бұрын
Apparently, it was not sub, chest, growl, nor chest-fry. It was a technique that was never recorded before. Peter Barber says it was some sort of throat bass and Marwan, the arranger, mixer, and masterer of this song, said it was false-fold subs. It’s like subharmonics, but you’re using your false vocal chords. It’s completely new to the bass singing world and Jonathan is the first to record one of those.

I've gotta call out that bass line because the world needs more fun bass lines like that! The fast bell tones at 0:49 were perfect - almost like a glissando written for marimba instead of the human voice, if that makes any sense. I can't even begin to imagine how much it took to get the video to line up for that section! And Jonathan's bit at 2:49 is such a cool thing to include - it's so raw sounding and I want more! One additional arrangement tool that you could add to your bag of tricks, is pulling out words and phrases from the lead part and using them, slightly offset in time either forwards or backwards and/or in double or half time, in one or more of the backup parts. VoicePlay does this *all* *the* *time* and it's really cool. For example, in Enemy, starting at 0:20, Cesar has the lead, "tell you you're the greatest", but AleXa and Eli sing in the background, "you're... the... great... est". In WDTA Bruno, at 0:20, Ashley has the lead, "Bruno walks in with a mischievous grin", but in the background at least two singers (I think Cesar and Eli) are singing "... with ... mis... chief... grin". In This Is Halloween, at 0:40, Eli has the lead starting the song, "Boys and girls of ev-er-y age, wouldn't you like to see something strange, come with us and you will see, this our town of Halloween"; in the background, though, you hear singers in half time going "Boys... and... girls... of... ev... ry age... Come... with... us... you'll... see... Halloween!" That's just three quick examples off the top of my head; like I said, they do it all the time, and it can really add depth to the arrangement. In any case, keep up the good work. Already looking forward to next week's song.
@maudglazbrooke12872 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure they are already doing that, but there are more layers as Voice Play arranges everything to be sung live, these guys started off assuming they were never going to meet in person so may as well double and triple up, so some of the details get pushed farther into the background. Give it another 3 or 4 listens.
@jonadabtheunsightly2 жыл бұрын
@@maudglazbrooke1287 I did definitely notice the multi-tracking. VP does that occasionally (most obviously, Geoff in Oogie Boogie's Song; and in some of the minis), but yeah, not as _much_ of it as here. That's my favourite so far. This was more bassy than Mad world! Jonathan is great fit for BassGang, because he doesn't blend, he standsout, when you 4 doing stuff it's good, but having somebody who is a leadsinger is great idea, especially for some type of songs. You 4 are increadible vocalist with similar capabalities, but none of you has that leadership in voice, even if you can belt pretty high and do stuff, it's not the same. I was mindblown by this arrangement, especially mixing skills, those bass frequencies keep rising, so very good choice. Everything right in this video!

Thank you to all of you for putting your talents together in such a great group. And, awesome job on this one Marwan. The arrangement, editing and video where very,, very well done. Each piece you guys put out is incredible. Then I am more awed when I remember that everyone is hundreds, to thousands of miles away from each other. Thank you all for doing what you do in this group. I consider myself a Tenor/maybe Baritone, but listening to you guys has deepened my bass range. Also, some of the highs you guys hit....I can't even hit.....so impressive to have this many basses with such broad ranges.

Tomi’s high note at 3:35 and low note at 2:01 was absolutely incredible

I love this display of the incredible vocal ranges of this group! Nicely done, gentlemen :)
I can hear Bobby's use of the SM7B, the dark and smooth vocals can't ever be mistaken.

So sorry I missed the premier, but I don’t know what I would have managed to say in chat. It’s taken a few hearings for me to find my words again. Every one of you guys just killed your solos, and I heard sounds coming out of all of you that, even after hearing pretty much everything you’ve done, I just did NOT expect. This is awesome, and Jonathan Young, WOW! Great job, all of you!

YES! GOLD MINERS BASS GANG GOES BBRRRR !!! 🥶🥶 Some timestamps for you to some epic moments. Thank me later 😌 0:49 1:27 1:57 2:49 3:10 3:35 This should be the definition of "Perfect" in Oxford Dictionary, really. Arrangement, editing, outfit, low notes, high notes, i cannot even imagine to list down all of them one by one because it's LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE SECONDS IS SHOUTOUT WORTHY?!?! 😩❤️ Biggest thanks to Marwan for this absolutely marvelous work, also everyone singing in this track ofc !🥰 But, seriously, Jonathan, you are the best fit for this song. Your vocals, vibes, and everything match perfectly and beautifully with this arrangement. I'm hoping another collab with this boyos with you!

I still can't get my head around, that you lads come from different continents and still manage to collaborate in such a great way. This! This is what makes peace and prosperity wordwide. Really incredible and please keep it coming! You once again astound us. And I am really looking forward to the analysis by @Peter Barber and the summary of those incredible low notes by @Marcello Bass. 😘

I came to this some time after it was released but I keep coming back to it over and over again - I love it!! I'd never heard the original when I first found this and when I did eventually check it out it seemed somehow thin and colourless against this one - I just kept hearing the bass notes and JY's metal elements in my head and missing them. Great job by everyone involved here.
