Seriously, get a proper microphone and study the basics of audio recording techniques and how to mix music into a voice over. This video is completely unwatchable because of it's 1970's amateur VHS film production quality of sound. A constantly distracting buzz or static coming from something in the background, with your mouth so far from the mic the monologue also being distorted on top of that by the echo it now captures and it also makes your voice sound extremely droning. Add on top of that a segment where you mix in music which nearly covers over your monologue and is completely stylistically in-appropriate when combined with the monologue-only intro, and horseshit in all artistic values to boot, so it creates an awkward and off-putting feeling out of the gate. A proper microphone for your camera and basic sound normalizing techniques with audacity or the basic sound tools enabling this included with most video editors don't cost more than pocket change. And seriously, you need to mix that music to be BELOW your voice-over in level and for your voice-over to carry over the music regardless of it's level, it needs to be a CLEAR take with out this kind of noise in it or you're just gonna make this sick inducing cacophony soup like now by adding music on top of all the noise and distortion your monologue has. (Or you need to at the very least clean that monologue up in the edit. That's not always possible, though. With poor mics and if you place them poorly. Seriously, what are you trying to record? The ambient noise of your studio room, or your speech? Because it sure as hell sounds like you love the static buzz and distorted echoes more than what you were trying to say.) Seriously, this made me feel nauseous. It's incredulous that over 136000 people were able to watch this for more than a few seconds. :D

PTR Industries is the way to go. Years ago I purchased a couple of the Century Arms original "CETME" rifles since I was always a fan of the original HK style guns. I think they were around $350 a piece. They were pieces of junk: They'd rip brass in half, needed a mallet to disassemble and just felt cheap. Got rid of 'em. PTR or then JLD Enterprise brought original HK tooling and blueprints to the US and made an exact clone of the HK-91. I bought two of 'em. They shoot like a dream, no recoil, zero failures ever, they're very accurate, and a tad heavy but just fabulous overall. One is a MSG-91 w/ a bipod and picatinny rail, one just a std model PTR-91 F (they cost $1590 and $899 respectively) w/ collapsible stock and original HK scope mount (ea about $200). If you're looking for a semi auto 308, stick w/ PTR quality. They stand behind their products. Century Arms - good luck if you spend $$$ with them

I purchased a new PTR 2 years ago. I could not tell you how disappointed I was. Called PTR and sent it back for repair three times. There is no way they tested that rifle. It was nothing but failures to feed, eject, fire. The PTR company just completely wasted my time with sending it back and forth. Yeah they offered a new gun but I figured with all the polishing and little extra things they claimed they did this one would be better than new. I sold and told the buyer my story. We test fired it and true to form failure after failure. He purchased it believing his gunsmith could fix it. Yeah right if the manufacturing company can't fix it good luck. Long story I lost $350 and so much time on that new PTR NEVER AGAIN !!! I have owned CETMES and several C308 never had a problem with the Century arms rifles.

I love em both. Both are excellent working clones of the original military designs depending on your budget. Cosmetically, the PTR91 GI doesn't look a whole lot more refined. Welds are still visible all over but being an all new parts gun, there is less "break in" period to get all the parts working in sync. The C308 is a fantastic deal for $500 as of 2019. Lack of a paddle mag release is easy to work around for quick mag changes. And if you decide to go for a steel trigger pack and housing, you're still a few hundred bucks short of a PTR91. They sand down the welds and everything is straight. Also all the parts are new and not harvested from used rifles. I’ve also seen a lot of reviews that say the accuracy on the C308 is hit or miss, not what the PTR91’s is, which in my experience is pretty good. Not sorry I went that way.
@GeorgiaBoy19614 жыл бұрын
It would go a long way toward strengthening their claim to be a better value than Century Arms, if PTR would do something to improve the lousy OEM/factory triggers on their rifles. This isn't the 1950s anymore; there's no reason to stick with such a sub-standard trigger design when it would be absurdly easy to improve it. They're often very accurate barrels, but you'd never know it because the factory triggers are so heavy (10-12 lbs. was the Bundeswehr spec), grainy and full of creep. For the extra $300-500 one pays to get into a PTR, you still get exactly the same lousy factory trigger as the cheapest Century clone. At least PTR ought to offer the buyer the option of swapping out the existing pack for something better, in return for slightly more money - so that the rifle would be ready to go out of the box.

@ Golf Life: Just so you know, there is no gas system to adjust on either of these rifles. They both feature roller-delayed blowback operation, so there is no gas system of any kind to malfunction, clog or foul, etc. Your typical PTR-91 will probably be more-accurate than your typical Century rifle, although both benefit greatly from a trigger job or after-market trigger pack, since the factory triggers are so lousy on these rifles.

Do all of the latest models come with 5 - 6 lb triggers on the PTR-91? I recently placed an order for a rifle, but I've heard many people complain they're about 12 - 14 lbs. I've also seen a video complaining about not having a paddle release, about 2 months ago. Just curious, thanks Edit: I ordered the PTR-91 FR version.
@Zaes2237 жыл бұрын
I've never heard of a 12-14 pound trigger on a ptr-91. I would say one of the best things about the ptr-91 is the ability to go on HK parts and buy a new trigger group extremely easily.

The sights on the C308 are almost...almost worthless. They are generally off. The welds are rough. That said, it's a solid day to day shooter. All you have to do is throw on a red dot or scope, if that's your thing, and you're good to go. Don't expect a pretty modern battle rifle. It is what it is, a reliable roller locking .308 that you won't be afraid to beat up on. As far as your vid., I can do without the music, but I love to listen to specs, history and general impressions of weapons. Speak slowly, kill the tunes and I could listen to every vid with this type of content.

will the ptr trigger group work on a century arms c308? and will old surplus wood furniture fit a century arms c308? from a cetme?
@uncleblazzer4206 жыл бұрын
The trigger group should work. You may have to do some slight fitting but nothing major. I didn't want to replace mine so I had my gunsmith do his magic on it and it made it much, much better. The surplus CETME furniture will definitely work. I bought a set and refinished it. It looks great on my C308

I'm debating on whether to get a PTR91 or a STAG 308 AR10? PTR Pros; *History & cool factor. *Reliability & track record. *cheap & plentiful magazines. Con; *I'm left eye dominant and shoot lefty & Availability of parts/upgrades. STAG 308WIN; *Interchangeability with & Familiar AR platform! *Plentiful of upgrades/Parts & magazines. *Overwhelming Positive reviews & Ambi. Con; *Cost Over $300 more & I would upgrade trigger adding $$$ I'm leaning towards the Stag but price & cool factor keeps me looking at the PTR. If I could afford it I would get both. Also Stag just released a 6.5 Credmore version recently?

Can anyone tell me on a 2004 era Hesse CAi who made barrels for that, and what was the quality on them? of 2 carriers I have seen Why does one bolt carrier have a longer tube but thinner at the last 2" or so and an HK I believe have a shorter but actually fatter at the tip aprox a 3/4" lip at the end where contacts charging handle/cocking lever that pushes against the charging handle rather than recess in like the first one I mentioned? Can barrels be changed on a CIA Hssee without to much of an ordeal?

My friends have two C308's and one of those PTR's. The C308's both work, the PTR doesn't. That PTR hates all ammo we feed it, and jams quite often. It will run about 40rds then start jamming so severely I have to beat the action open on the edge of the shooting table. My friend wants to try steel case ammo next. I guess we'll see if that works.
@nmarques78856 жыл бұрын
That's a sad story friend. They at PTR must have made a very bad job, because the tools and designs they got from INDEP were battle proven. The FBP G3A3 M/961 was used for nearly 13 years in africa. It served as a front liner against the communists and even against smart ass CIA. They killed a lot of people, saved a lot of Portuguese life's... Million and half of Portuguese soldiers would most likely disagree with you. Have a nice day... ;)

I realize I'm late to this party, and perhaps it's already been said in the comments somewhere but it's important for each of you to know that the C308 is a joint venture between Century and PTR; think Chevy=Cadillac or Ford=Lincoln/Mercury kind of thing. You can't go wrong with either one...

El fusil superior tiene la mira trasera del CETME C, también tiene la orejeta de la sujeción de la bayoneta del mismo fusil, por lo que yo diría que es un CETME no un GR3 alemán.

David, if you are still interested, here are some bits of info... PTR industries, formerly JLD Industries, in the early 2000s, purchased the blueprints, tooling and fixtures from Portugal, when that nation stopped producing the G3 for its own use. PTR makes its rifles with semi-auto receivers, but otherwise they are as close as you can get to an actual G3 as possible without actually buying one from H&K. Initially, many of their rifles were manufactured using a mix of surplus and new parts, but as time has moved on, PTR makes more and more of the rifles in-house, according to their website. Century, on the other hand, keeps costs low by building their rifles from surplus parts (some of which are used parts) kits, augmented by new-production parts where necessary. The fit-and-finish on the Century firearms is not up to the standard set by PTR, but they have been improving, too. If you prefer a wood-stocked rifle, a Century might be the best bet, since PTR is not making them right now. If you prefer a CETME-style rifle as opposed to a G3-pattern, Century is your best avenue, whereas if the opposite then choose PTR. The two rifles are similar and share ~ 80% of their parts but not everything is interchangeable. Older models from both companies featured iron sights only. The Century models with the flip-style 100-400 meter rear apertures and the PTRs with the H&K rotating drum, again 100-400m. Newer versions come with a P-rail welded to the top of the receiver to allow easy mounting of optics.
