CENTURY RIDE! 100 MILES ON MY TREK DUAL SPORT

Hey all! Different type of upload this week. But Jonny and I have been training for a century ride. A century is 100 miles in one ride. I have a Trek dual sport 3 and Jonny has. dual sport 1. Looking forward to more long rides soon... maybe next time on a road bike.

@@vanilllamint you're going to fly when you get on a road bike. Did my first century last year. The GFNY. From the GWB to the top of Bear Mountain and back. Like 8,700 feet of elevation gain. I'm not fast or strong but got it done. It's an amazing event you might want to try one day.

Man, I would have dove in the water a few times!! I was knocking down a 10 mile run in triple digit heat. I started to show signs of heat exhaustion. Stopped sweating. Then I seen salvation. A little river. I tossed my phone and headphones, wallet pouch on the short mid stride and dove in. It was amazing. You can’t even describe the level of refreshing when your that exhausted and suffering from heat. Once I jumped back out, I laid down some killer times the last 2 miles. I just bought a Trek Dual Sport to start commuting to and from work on it. This winter, I’m going to start building out a Salsa cycle for more distance and speed.

Nice job! Watch for ticks on the Henry Hudson trail...that Atlantic Highlands stretch starting at about the 3 min mark is where I seem to get 'em even if I avoid all contact with the grass.

Thinking about a Dual Sport over a Fx. Is the dual sport 2 a good enough fitness bike?

.... Question ??? Do your fingers get numb???? Well, your ego handle-bar grips are not right ... they need to be rotated "up" so that your palms lay flat on the grips ... you steer w/ your palms by "pushing the handle-bars ... that leaves your fingers free to controll the brakes and shifters .... and Yes, I have a 2013 TREK 8.6 DS ... I caught the comments about your hands ....Safe Pedalling .... (Oh, Like the "Ray-Bans/Wayfarers" ... thats' what I wear Prescription w/ "Fire" lens ...)

I’m torn between the dual sport and checkpoint. Price is a big factor, but I want something to help me get back in shape plus eventually do 100 mile rides as my goal. My 3rd portion is the domane but I live in rural Texas and there are hundreds of miles of gravel roads that I can access just a half mile from my home, so the checkpoint sits higher on my list. If you could go back on purchase day, would you still choose the dual sport?

I don’t think they are that heavy, but then again my dual sport has the rack and fenders. But hill climbs aren’t to bad.

Nice ride! I have the exact same bike, same green color too, I call it my Shrek bike. Live out in rural Pennsylvania in Lancaster and there's this great 30 mile paved trail that goes along the Susquehanna River that I ride almost every weekend. I rigged up my phone on the handlebar one day a year ago and made this video. Even with the stabilization software that I used it's still a bit shaky while riding over bumps. No narration, just free use music but it gives a good overview of the trail and my ride.
