For those not getting it dig deeper. The song references the "First they came" poem by Martin Niemöller - look it up if you're clueless. The phrase "principiis obsta" means resist the beginning. The song is about not letting go of freedoms so easily. Turisas is trying to wake up the sheep.

Fun fact: its actually the runonlaulajan kädet... or poets hands. It represents the Kalevala bards that sing/relay the stories of the epic. I always like to think it was also loosely inspired by the tursaansydän (the heart of Tursas [Iko-Turso], the finnish god of war), which was thought to bring good luck. But that's just my own little connection lol.

@@hussar4005 I know some Finnish comrades, so I don't know why you would think that would be a problem. And the message of the song is pretty clear: it's about resisting fascism. A pretty "anti-fascist" song, you could say ;)

David Sanz I know a few Finns too, and they’re quite ant-communist. And the song is anti-authoritarian not strictly anti-fascist. For ex. the part about checking the box and accepting the terms of service is about giving your rights away to corporations.

@@hussar4005 The song is pretty explicitly referencing the Nazis rising to power in Germany. And i wouldn't say Finns are any more anti-communist than any other people from non-communist countries. It's more of a general resentment towards Russia no matter what form of government they have.
