that's why it's fun to find a balance between the two, which many smashers do. you think low tier mains don't know their character shit compared to others? Of course they do, they've been playing this shit for years. to OP "Smash would be more diverse if people played characters they have fun with instead of solely thinking about winning with fox" - A lot of people do that. Look at all the falcon players and samus players and axe's pikachu, and more. No shit you see the most people playing the highest tier characters, but you still see a lot of lower tier gods in the smash community, and that is awesome to have.
