Did I miss something? Wasn't that Cold Palace just a dumping ground for forgotten women? God's waiting room for the walking dead until they finally died? Were there Momos being sent in to teach ettiquite and deportment? Did they read Miss Manners every day? Where was the part that taught her the rules and customs and how the world works (their world not THE world though they were thought to be one in the same). That old woman must be high on the fumes of the stuff they were gaslighting Melli with. They bound her like they bound women's feet until they destroyed all the things they loved and hated her for.
