How long does PPF last, and is it basically a clear coated wrap? How does the car look when you remove the PPF after some time/years? Does it mess up your original paint?

Ppf is crap , I just did a removal of OEM ppf on a hood , side mirrors and lower back panels. Took me 2 hours because it was breaking off into pieces . The best protection for your car is leaving it in the garage and not driving it 😂

if the car is garaged, and you maintain the ppf just like paint (and you can even ceramic coat ppf) it can last past ten years. The average is 7-8 years. PPF should be removed once it starts to yellow. It shouldn't damage the paint, although it could damage a repaint if the panel was not prepped properly prior to the respray.

@KingDaDetailer So, I think I'll stick to what I'm doing. Washing my car weekly with car shampoo and a wash mitt, and waxing every other month with a liquid wax called color match polish. This doesn't cost much, and my 24 year old car (not garaged) looks great. It's metallic blue, and the clear coat (from factory) is still in perfect condition. 😁🙋🏼‍♂️👍🏻

@@BubblesTheCat1 that's all you really need , you can even go as far as applying a ceramic sealant, it will last 4-6 months and will help with your weekly washes

I do have a question that I can’t seem to find an answer to anywhere, is there an actual benefit to using a “glass specific” ceramic coat on glass compared to a regular coating or is it just marketing?

In my experience there is not a big difference. On glass it doesn’t bond as well and with windshield wipers and windshield fluid it lasts 6 months or so.

Its not the best protection but it looks the best. PPF has a more thick plastic look to it while ceramic looks more crystal.
