Cassandra the hairstyle is called Bantu Knots. It’s an African hairstyle that obviously found its way here (thank God). You do not have to use extra hair. Depending on the length of your natural hair, it will determine how “full” you want it to look. Black men can also wear this style and it is not viewed as “feminine”. As far as the Black Girl Sunscreen, I use it everyday. There is no coating left behind, and it applies well. I know you didn’t ask for all this information but you do have a large audience of African Americans who look forward to your posts, and I just wanted you to be updated on what’s going on in our neck of the woods so-to-speak. Looking beautiful as always luv🙏🏾

Your hair is so cool and beautiful this way! Anyways I have a question, so one of my students had these knots and braided hair..but one of her braid literally fell off to the ground one day! Does that mean she's probably using extra hair on her knots? Please someone tell me if she has extra hair or if it could be damaging to the hair? Thank you!

Some brands that fall under this category test on animals where required by law, which means they're not cruelty-free. CeraVe is owned by L'Oréal, a company that is not cruelty-free." This is the information I have from where I live (you have a subscriber from Portugal 😉). So basically here in the EU all brands have been banned from selling products that test on animals, regardless of where they were produced and the laws on those countries. However, since they sell in China and therefore they need to have their products tested there they are not completely cruelty free. So in the US it would depend from where are they shipping the product, or if they have any factories there and the laws, which I really don't know. In any case, I think that on the product should be written where it was produced. Hope that helps!

That sunscreen tip at the end is everything I ever wanted. I live in South Africa and I am a dark skinned girl but my skin burns quite easily and I haven't used a sunscreen for over 2 years because the ones I used either left my skin too oily or purple and didn't seem to make much if a difference because I would still burn. It was just a mess. I remember having sunburn after compulsory swimming class (during summer only) in school and my "swimming costume tan" would last all year. I love being outside in the sun but avoid staying outside too long because I'm scared of getting darker. I want the black girl sunscreen so badly. I'm definetly saving up for one because the exchange rate means its way more expensive here. Can't wait for your review on it. I want to experience that too.

@@luisestrella2253 Yes, they are not just gimmicky and wasteful. They can damage your skin if you aren't careful - Cassandra talked about a patient ripping her skin because she used a strip while on accutane, and I feel like stories like that is why estheticians have trust issues lmao. But yes, when she mentioned pulling off the strip parallel to the skin and holding the skin taut (iirc), that is VERY important, even if someone isn't using a skin-thinning treatment like accutane or Retin-A. The reason teenage, pre-esthetician me broke capillaries around my nose is because I didn't know what I was doing and just pulled 😂 broken capillaries look like little red lines, and many people have them. Now I don't work in a medical setting but from what I understand, they can only be fixed with laser. It's another symptom of a fast-fix culture, one that thinks blackheads are dirty (spoiler alert: they're not). lol also I didn't even have them, so I damaged my skin for nothing. 🤷🏼♀️ well, at least I get to scare folks away from the biore strips.

I only found your channel this week and am loving it - I have to give a round of applause that you're so focused on choosing cruelty-free products. Most beauty youtubers really don't seem to care. Only when we all vote with our money will this unnecessary and disgusting practice stop, and influencers like you really so make that difference. No, Cerave is not 100% cruelty free. In South Africa (where I live), we have Beauty Without Cruelty - it is an NPO and there is no cost involved for companies registered with them. They are extremely strict on testing. They're an excellent source as they really are trustworthy - there's nothing in it for them to approve or decline. BWC says no to Cerave because it is owned by Loreal. I guess it depends on your definition of cruelty free. They may not do testing themselves but are they really that strict about buying raw materials from suppliers that don't test? Plus, any brand that is willing to be in China despite their insistence on testing cannot truly be 100% cruelty free. If these huge brands all refused to be in China, they would force the change.
@sarasommers35884 жыл бұрын
Being owned by L'Oreal does not automatically make a company non cruelty free. They own several brands that are cruelty free. However, being sold in mainland China definitely makes them non cruelty free.

I would really appreciate it if you could give your honest opinion about the skincare products they have. They are cruelty-free as well, which is so wonderful. I think it's great that you focus so heavily on skincare, but our makeup should also uphold our values! If we want clear skin, we should have a good skincare regimen, but also have good quality makeup as well. They actually have makeup that is used to treat acne (which a lot of people don't know about). I would love to hear your perspective on the different formulations they have, and the brand as a whole. I would (maybe because sometimes I forget) slather on sunscreen when I go to the beach but the feeling is always so thick, cloying and suffocating. How about a video on chemical vs mineral & lightweight vs thick & broad spectrum vs specific SPF sunscreens to help us out!😁

My friend actually suggested CeraVe and boy did it actually help with my spot. Still use it and im glad she kept pushing me to buy it. I use quiet a small amount where it isnt even soapy on my face and it still really good.

I’m extremely disappointed in Cerave. I just found out L’Oréal owns Cerave and they do test on animals in China. I had been told Cerave was cruelty free. I was literally praising their product on ig when this was pointed out. I commented how disappointing this was and that i have no choice but to start switching my products. They deleted my comments and blocked me. It was so sad to see this. I will be switching all my Cerave products from now on.

Love how Amandla pronounces ‘CeraVe’. I’m here like ‘serrave’ and she’s like ‘ceravé’

I'm not sure (not a physician), but I think Black Girl Sunscreen is a "chemical" sunscreen and is not zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Therefore is not proven to be reef-safe. Only physical is PROVEN to be. (Again, not a physician but I've read a lot) Besides that, it says nothing about being non-nano :( I'm not sure if this brand should be mentioned. I've found some zero waste physical sunscreens and one or two of them claimed to not shine. One of them tinted too! Please try to include those next time. Reply if you would like to view them :)

I have eczema and generally pretty dry skin so the cerave hydrating cleanser has been a total game changer for me

At Cerave‘s website they claim that their products are not tested on animals...I relied on that so if you gathered more information on that a video on the ethics of cerave would be great! 💛

Hey cassandra! You helped me sooo much with my acne and turned me into a vegan🐟🐄🐖 Cerave is NOT vegan. It contains animal derived cholesterol. Cerave is NOT cruelty free. They are owned by loreal. They test on animals. Love you!♥️

The CeraVe hydrating cleanser is like my favorite one! If I want to wash my face in the morning, this is the one I reach for.

Hi Cassandra! In Dr. Drays review of the YTTP cleanser she mentions how the ceraVe cleanser is a better option but it’s not cruelty free. The video, however, is almost 2 years old so I’m not sure if that impacts anything but there you go. Great video, thank you!

Show us the pore strips🤣 also wondering, does this tight hairdo have equally or more damaging effects like a ponytail? I literally was crying for her scalp😱 I really love this channel. It gives me so much information about the products that work and just the trendy ones..😍😍

for spf for darker skin I really like the sunbum spf 30 face stick. It’s sheer and lightweight so it doesn’t flashback or feel greasy.
