Heath, there really aren’t many or even any channels digging deep into film history and covering more than just the same old, so I think many will welcome hearing and learning about all those shadows of movies that are desperately trying to maintain a flicker. I look forward to it! Happy New Year, companero! 🎉

I love your physical media update videos. Especially when you talk about the releases I pick up, and the monthly Kino video. But I find your interviews and commentary videos way more enriching. So I’m happy you’re gonna start focusing on that stuff. I’ve gone back and watched the Toby Roan interview several times now. Your two’s enthusiasm for westerns and noir is infectious.

I'm still catching up to movies that I was gifted last Christmas. I can't imagine getting such an amount and more all throughout the year. Speaking of, I was given the Criterion bluray of Pandora's Box this Christmas. Wow...fantastic film/release. Uncommon in its sophistication. Really appreciated the 1971 interview with Louise Brooks and the follow up with the interviewer. Cheers to you Heath and Cereal At Midnight. Will definitely be checking out the Hamilton Book channel. I'm working on an order with them. So many good deals.

That Mary Pickford box set is the kind of thing that deserves it's own video, more should be said about it due to its historic significance. I know you are one overwhelmed man, just review what you are the most passionate about. Absolutely slim down the amount of review copies you receive each month if you can.

I think a large segment of your audience enjoys a cursory showing-off of your arrivals, but for me -- and not intending to be mean here -- I do find it wanting that, because of time constraints and the sheer volume and your consequent lack of viewing time and time to script in-depth reviews -- you have to race through these giant stacks ("this came in" and "here this one is ...") without sufficient elucidation of the material. That Mary Pickford box is undoubtedly the most important item you showed on this episode and yet little was said about it, and I can understand why. Even I'm a huge film history buff and did not get to the Pickford films in any quantity until I was in my forties. It takes a long time to get to things. I look forward to changes geared toward the films and film history itself. I know you've been indicating this direction for some time so it will be fun to watch it play out. Here's good fortune to you in the new year.

We are on the same page. You're looking at a man stretched far beyond his limits, holding on for dear life and trying to showcase an amount of media that no single person ever could, or should. I promise you 2025 will be different. It has to be. Edit: also, there are always things in these videos I didn’t ask for and would not have bought. I include them because it helps fans know what titles are out and it helps the distributors too…but both feel like a losing proposition now because someone always feels jilted.

I'm grateful to Arrow for all of their releases, but dislike the way they force their customers to choose between bluray and 4k when most other companies do doubly disc releases. It just means that I keep getting bluray as I like having a version I can play anywhere as most people I know just have bluray players.

I bought the UK HMV exclusive set if Demolition Man just last year that has a hardbox with the poster art and steelbook with the poster art too. This new one has worse art and too much focus on member berries like the shells and the violation report prints. I think what I'll do is wait till Arrow do their standard edition version then get it and put that disc in my steelbook /box

Just watched Joker 2 over the weekend and enjoyed it. I also really liked Joker. Knowing the background of the director's motivation for making Joker 1&2 really makes sense based on each movies tone. Some people apparently just wanted Dark Knight part 4&5 🤷♂️
@BennyBrilleman11 күн бұрын
Can't believe you referred to Michael Biehn as, "That guy." .....I was certain it was him on the Rippy case you showed (I haven't seen the movie), and looked up the cast list afterward to be sure 🤣 As for Joker 2, I preferred 1 but 2 was good. People either didn't watch it or were pissed off it wasn't piggybacking off the first film.
@CerealAtMidnight11 күн бұрын
Joker 2 is, for me, a really interesting case study in what happens when a studio demands a sequel that the filmmakers do not want to make because they said everything they had to say in the first one. But I also expect to hear comparisons to Godfather 2 eventually--another movie that the filmmakers and actors did not want to make and believed they had no more story to tell.
@eiadtarabulsi11 күн бұрын
When it comes to first Joker movie and Joker Folie A Deux, my opinions are complete opposites when compared to yours. I thoroughly enjoyed the first film, which I've watched several times. I'll go as far as saying that it's easily one the best movies that I've seen. Whereas, on the other hand, I watched Joker Folie A Deux once and I regret it to be honest. I wished that I could take back the time and money that I wasted. One of 2024's most anticipated movies ended up being a huge disappointment. The movie has a convoluted story. The biggest mistake was turning Joker Folie A Deux into a musical. It has 15 musical numbers, which is absurd. The story is severely lacking, especially when compared to the first Joker film. The musical elements end up clashing with the story and tone. They feel forced and rushed more than anything. Apparently, WB pressured Todd Phillips into turning the film into a musical. From what I've heard, Joaquin Phoenix encouraged Lady Gaga to sing poorly on purpose, which didn't work. Weirdness aside, Lady Gaga can legitimately sing. She's really good. Also, Joaquin Phoenix got sick everyday while he was doing the musical numbers. I wished that I didn't watch the film, but it is what it is. That's just my own personal opinion. I'm anxious to hear yours. Movies and entertainment are subjective after all. Otherwise, thanks, Heath! As always, I appreciate the honesty, hard work, and passion! Hopefully, 2025 will be even more successful and prosperous for you and your wonderful channel moving forward. Keep it up! Happy New Year! God bless and stay safe!

I completely agree that once people move past the disappointment of Batman not appearing, they will change their minds about Joker 2: Folie à Deux and appreciate it for what it truly is.
