My late grandfather Rudy had the 1976 version but his was cream with white top and cream leather interior. He lived in Delray Beach Florida and I inherited the car after he passed away in 1988 at age 75. Still got the car. Car has 180000 miles. Love the car.

I absolutely love this car. I love the big American boats. I grew up in the 60's and 70's and we always had big cars. When they started downsizing them in the late 70's I so was unhappy with the results. I thought it was the end of the world. Nothing beats an old car big car ride. This colour was known as Robin Egg, a favourite in the 70's. I can imagine the engine is about a 500ci...big gas guzzler. Since the original owner drove it to BC, it no doubt avoided the brutal winters. BC lower mainland hardly gets much snow. Its the Canadian California...-3c is a cold day there, whereas Alberta is use to -40c. I lived in both provinces and I prefer BC winters. I take it she doesn't have a block heater on it. lol! Love the way you cruised in it. Just like riding in one back in the old days. I currently drive a 1992 Crown Victoria, which I refer to as the small downsized model. My dad had a 1970 Dodge Monaco, mother had a 1966 Ford Galaxie, which is what I dream of owning again. Love the car and the video. Don Frazer Bowden, Alberta.

It's so weird but I can actually smell that car just by looking at it. The interior and the exhaust. I'm 35 but there were still plenty of cars of this era on the road in my early life, and I remember riding in them. New cars are nice, but they definitely don't make them the same. Big heavy cars with V8's, so nice. Those plush cushy seats, big heavy doors, even the window switches were metal, the seatbelt clips. 🤤

That engine is a Modified Cleveland with a diff crank for a longer stroke. They were said to breathe well. Pretty fast car for such a monster. Had this exact car in Antique Cream color. some punk kid pulled out from the curb tapped me in the side forcing me into head on. It still drove but was mangled . Had 186,000 on the clock and was still running strong. The 351M/400b is a great engine. They also dropped 460cid in the early 70s Marquis.

It's amazing how that big block torque pushes that car off the line up to 30mph in that super tall first gear so effortlessly like that lol. I never understood why they used a 3 speed but i see now with all that torque 3 is all you need and they're more reliable than the 4 speeds.

Part of the fun and beauty of buying a classic car is knowing it's history - and this was a definite one owner car - not sure what commenter Mario Partida is talking about. A quick google search shows that this car was bought new by John Whitmeyer, an avid lover of trains and a member of the Pacific Railway Society and he was in fact 89 when he passed on in 2012. That man must have loved that car. Hope it falls into good hands. They did screw him on repairs. Thanks for posting those receipts!

I bought my 1978 2 door hardtop Marquis when I was 25 I love the big block 460 I can't kill it. I added 1 3/4 wide white walls since the car is original white in exterior color. Interior dark brown. I absolutely love all the chrome hide away headlights and rear skirt's. Done away with the original hubcaps and put 15 inch Tru spokes rims on. I was messing around with the column because I couldn't figure out way the steering wheel wouldn't tilt in order to tilt the wheel I had to pull the turn signal arm. When I bought her she had a true 52.000 miles. Best part I stolen the car for 500 plus tax.

New cars will come and die and this will outlive then due to the fact that this car is simpler to work on. One other thing I did want to say and forgot to say is, the guy who made this vid did put in his video title 400 big block, and as I said they usually came with a 351M and had an option up to 460. I also said it didn't look like a big block or sound like one etc, but as I said my eyes (and ears) are old and tired and don't see or hear as well anymore but my brain still works flawlessly thank goodness. Any way. Now it could have been a 400. But, it looks like the guy who owned this judging by the stickers on his car and the story about him driving back and forth from the U.S. to Canada was probably in the northeast or northern states. The 400 was produced for dealers for high altitude mountain states such as the northwest, 351M elsewhere (as well as other engine options etc of course if you wanted something else/a different engine.). So if this car does have a 400 it had to have originally come from the high altitude mountain regions of the northwest or the man bought it with a 400 as an option he wanted or needed. Just forget to say that so just thought I'd let y'all know that and make that clear.have a good one everybody.

The cow catcher bumpers really took away from the Marquis line starting in 1973. The 1969, 1970, 1971 and 1972 Marquis Brougham's were among the best looking of the series. They were unique, dependable and easy to service. The interior had a very expensive custom look to it. Just as nice as a Lincoln Continental. Who needed a Lincoln when you have a Marquis Brougham for much less. At the sign of the cat.

My Dad had these as company cars - four of them - when I was a kid. One white with a black top, one white on white (without sunroof), one white one white with sunroof, and one triple green. The problem with the 70's cars is that they ran horribly - large displacement engines that struggled to make 150 hp and got horrible mileage. Most rusted to death. There is a guy on eBay (Classics LLC) who has a number of these, as well as the Lincoln town cars and Town Coupes, as well as Marks. Nice survivor. Values for these old 70's cars are pretty low right now. I wonder whether there will be a "pimp barge revival" in the next decade or so.....
