I like the idea of a 3 channel Plexi style amp? Very cool! I need a super clean, super crunch, and heavy overdrive. I would add switchable boost graphic EQ at the fx loop. My current amp has a graphic EQ for solo boost with a global eq in the fx loop.
@TheTerrorBeyond3 жыл бұрын
Ceriatone make another modified-Plexi amp with three channels that is also amazing. The AH Deluxe has a bit less gain than the Leviathan, but it has a cleaner clean channel. The Leviathan has clippers on channel one, making it a great classic rock/hard rock channel. I had Nik figure out how to defeat the clippers from the amp that inspired this one so that it would be able to do cleans. There are some excellent options on channel one now.

@TheTerrorBeyond3 жыл бұрын
It would sound amazing. The demo here is with Vintage 30s, but the Greenback would be amazing. A combination of either V30s and Greenbacks or V30s and Creambacks would be amazing.

It sounds great at all volumes, really... this amp does better than many I have when NOT turned up super loud. Nik does make a 50-watt version as well if you want: www.ceriatone.com/hot-rodded-plexi-leviathan-50/

I know this is 3 years old, but I would love to hear a strat or tele through this as I am more concerned about the clean tones of this amp.
@TheTerrorBeyond Жыл бұрын
This amp wasn't designed to be clean... I did have Nik work to make a clean channel on it to allow that option, but the source amp doesn't have a clean channel. This one CAN clean up, but I wasn't looking for that when putting the design together for it... I wanted a high-gain monster, and the clean was really meant to be more of a classic rock channel that could clean up.

Hey I was thinking of looking for a Budda Superdrive amp, how do those compare to your Ceriatones?
@TheTerrorBeyond4 жыл бұрын
The Budda Superdrive is a great amp, but it is quite different than any of my Ceriatone amps. My Ceriatones are all Jose'-style modded Marshalls, or modified Friedman types. They are all pretty high gain amps and have more distortion than the Budda SD30. My Budda Bully has a ton of gain, but they are nearly impossible to find. I don't know that I could have gotten one if I wasn't an endorser. Between the Bully and the SD30, I prefer the SD30 because I have many other high-gain amps. The Budda is not a high-gain amp, but excels at mid-gain rock, as well as gritty country tones. The amp LOVES Telecasters. It is also UNHOLY loud... I have the SD30 and it is deafeningly loud. I suppose I would say that the SD30 owes a debt to the Vox AC30 in a way, as well as earlier Marshall designs. It is a great amp.

thx for sharing a demo, dude. sounds awesome. Did you have a chance to play butterslax to compare the sound and feel. thx
@TheTerrorBeyond Жыл бұрын
I have never had access to a Butterslax, but the Leviathan can do a good imitation of my JJ 100, and the Butterslax is a modified JJ 100. I expect that it is very close.
@bengirard19844 жыл бұрын
Hi! I spoke with Nik and I just need your input. I can have the Molecular OD inserted in the King King platform to have a two channel amp or I could have the Leviathan. The thing is that I play in projects that require great sparkling cleans up to modern metal. Which one according to you does it the best? Which one is the most aggressive and beefier(let’s say closer to a Splawn Nitro, distortion wise)?
@TheTerrorBeyond3 жыл бұрын
The source amp has a clipper on the clean channel. I asked Nik to figure out how to defeat it, and to allow for additional controls/clipping on the "clean" channel. He knocked this completely out of the park, and the amp actually DOES have a clean channel. It is not Fender-style clean, but it does a nice clean sound. You have a lot of options, however, for gain... the Leviathan goes from light breakup to modern gain, and it does it better than any amp I own (and I have a LOT of amps). The AH-100 Deluxe has a better clean channel, but it is not as aggressive as the Leviathan in the realm of distortion. I love my AHD, but the Leviathan wins overall for me, as I don't use clean tones very often at all. With this said, you could boost an AHD and have some serious gain as well. I put this video together to show the RAW sounds of the amp with NO tweaking of EQ or anything. This is about as perfect a demo of the sounds of the amp without tweaking you can possibly get. You will see the function of the clipper-defeat switch at the first of the video.
