When i was working as a medical secretary in hospitals. I didnt make big money. I had to thrift my clothes. I would buy solid color bouses and solid color skirts. Then i thrifted scarves that were very colorful and put different blouses and skirts to match colors in my scarves. Colors i would not put together on their own so this is right up my alley😊❤

One of my favorite quilting teachers told me , "pick a fabric you really like as your main fabric, then pull colors from it." Never has failed me, and I've transferred that process to making cards, just like you are suggesting. Love your play with the fabric inspiration.

One additional comment Ceri. When I use a fabric swatch or picture to create my color palette, I also am looking at the proportions of the colors used in relation to the other colors in the palette. Those clues help me decide which colors are the bases and which are the accents or focal color.

What a beautiful piece. In a free mixed media course that I took years ago, the teacher instructed us to find an item in our surroundings that we liked & use that. I loved the colors in my shower curtain, & used that. Perfect thinking, as everyone buys "things" that they love, being a piece of wall art, or a bedspread...xo

Ceri, another fun video watching you select paint to create the colors you wanted to use to create the background and continue on with the stamping and creative use of the plastic grid. I never thought about looking at magazines for inspiration, but I do have a lot of fabrics that could work for me in this way. Love the way you explain and encourage during your videos.💕

Ahh yes.... fabric is always a great inspiration for sure xx You mentioned that it would be fun to design fabrics.... I've had a go at scanning in my gel prints and printing them onto A4 canvas paper just using my Epson ecotank average printer. It works fine apart from the metallics which come out a little dull. The A4 canvas prints make great journal covers or can be sewn on so also cool for little bags/pouches etc and you can always jazz up any metallic elements. Remind me to show you...xxx

Beautiful as always, Ceri. Could you show a video sometime on how you got the grid on the plate and then have it the impression of fading back asking the edges. I'm not sure if you sponged on white along the edges of the grid or how you did it, but I love the look of it.
@CeriGriffiths8 күн бұрын
Debbie I’ll try and cover that in a future video however here’s a verbal version, I rolled out a thin layer of white paint onto the gel plate then lightly touched the 12x12 onto it in areas, for the red grid I rolled out red paint on my 5x7 gel press then used a piece of gridded non slip draw liner to pick up the paint and stamp it onto the background, I hope that helped.

❤ I totally understand it. I have a print I like, yet for my tastes it has too much dark blue floral. The tans, beiges, browns of the dried stems and leaves are beautiful. But I made one better on my geli plate. And it was a total accident. I love it. The lines of tems are there and business of florals without real florals and only a few blue areas. Those extra papers for take offs are most wonderful. I love your styles and papers. Take care.

@CeriGriffiths8 күн бұрын
Wendy you don’t need to mount it on anything, a lot of us content creators put them on plexiglass or acrylic plates so we can easily move them around whilst filming however if you lay it onto a clean smooth surface your gel plate will not get damaged.
