7:05 since only the two axis facet joints between the axis and atlas are in direct contact I don't see how any of the other parts (lamina etc) have any bearing on loading? The dens in fact is the only other surface in contact with the atlas. Basically the weight bearing axis runs through the spine bodies and discs, which the two axis facet joints perfectly aligns to. The lower vertebrae facets I think are only for stabilization, I can't see them take any load given that they are not angled perpendicular to the force of gravity like the vertebrae bodies.

I think you need to imagine the cervical spine with a slight curvature. With that 1.there will be definitely contact at the lamina as that area is so compact. 2.Facet will definitely take less force in comparison to body because of thr alignment but they are stabilized by the ligaments and muscles the the weight will definitely pass through them as they have a good are aligned one below the other.

@@MovementScience8But doesn't every load bearing surface between bones have cartilage? The lamina doesn't. Even the vertebrae bodies have a thin cartilage layer on top of the discs.

@@Rene-uz3eb true makes sense actually but may be this weight bearing might be happening only when we move into some dgree of extension but otherwise very
