Hi ladies, let me know, do you think you will accept a cervical sweep when you get to the end of your 3rd trimester?
@isabelcunha23012 жыл бұрын
Hi Anja. I was offered one at 39w+5 which I declined. I would like to have my birth was natural as possible. I comeback to this video again to review the information and reading the information from your course again to feel empowered in my decisions 😊 I have an appointment tomorrow again (40w) because the baby is supposed to be to big for me.... it’s my baby I dont see how can be too big ☺️😅

@@isabelcunha2301 hi! Your baby is the perfect size for your body I'm sure! It's only if you had gestational diabetes that babies can be larger than normal. Scans are not the most accurate and neither are fundal measurements. I'm sure that your baby is the best size for you and that everything will be ok! ❤️

I'm really in two minds about whether to have a sweep. I am booked for induction on my 40 week due date, because I had IVF and the doctors don't want me to go over my due date because they said the placenta can fail quickly after IVF. I really don't mind doing what needs to be done, and don't want to take any chances with my baby's health and life, so if I need induction, I will do it. The induction co ordinator did say that I can ask my Midwife to try a sweep first if I like, to try to get things moving. My next appointment is next week when I will be 38 weeks so plan to discuss it there and see if they think it's a good idea. One other thing I wanted to ask about (unrelated) please Anja.....today I tried hand expressing to try to harvest colostrum for the first time. I THINK I had the technique correct, but I tried for 40 mins and not one single drop came out 😞 should I continue to try? Could it still work if I persevere? Thank you very much

I’ll be 39 weeks tomorrow and am hoping to go into labor without the sweep, but will probably get it 40 weeks+ if baby is late.
@HypnobirthingWithAnja2 жыл бұрын
Hi Melissa, just wanted to say a baby is never late. Due dates are just an estimate but of course, if you want to have a sweep go for it. Walking and birth ball exercises can also help to bring on labour 💕

Same. Waiting until 40wks. Im 38wks now, 3cm dilated, baby is head down, and I've lost some mucus plug. Im pretty confident I'll go into labor before 40wks without the sweep 🙏🏽

Im 41 weeks and Im very nervous I know its my decision but I feel pressured into getting one. I want to meet him so bad but at the same time i hate feeling pressured into things. The passed week I have been feeling sooo stressed about it. Then today and yesterday I have been having ALOT more braxton hicks like my labor is trying to kickstart then i feel defeated that it hasnt gone anywhere and Ive tried so much to get it going! I just want him to come naturally with NO type of induction. And I go in today its 2 am and I've been watching video trying to finalize my decision...

Hi! Thanks for your message, I only just saw it. Did you decide to have a cervical sweep? 🌹❤️
@phoinixamundsen2417 Жыл бұрын
@HypnobirthingWithAnja No I did not my doctor and I talked about. My baby looks amazing and I'm progressing along nicely. I was really going off of my ultrasound and he passed and everything was looking great so

why is this being done at 34 weeks?
@thamayo253 жыл бұрын
Hmm not sure. One side of me is thinking she will come whenever she is ready, on the other side.. i'm 39wks and 5 days so she seems to be quite comfortable in there. Will have to wait and see what happens😁🙈

I can totally understand the quandary that you are in! Been there myself when I was heavily pregnant. I'm sure your cervix is starting to open and is already soft. The mantras that helped me were "my baby will come at the right time" "I have patience with my body and my baby". Those mantras are really why I decided not to have a sweep when I was pregnant xxx
@thamayo253 жыл бұрын
@@HypnobirthingWithAnja those mantra's are really nice, thank you. I have been really into hypnobirthing since I was about 13wks pregnant and also believe my body and baby will work together when the time is right😊 I wonder what the midwife says on my due date thursday

When did she come?
@thamayo253 жыл бұрын
@@karisss4763 40 weeks and 2 days so literally 3 days after my post. I was trying to manifest/image holding her that night and woke up woth some mild cramps that night not realising they were contracrions at the time. I gave birth all natural no epidural no gas and air. 5 hours of contractions in hospital, 16 minutes of pushing her out (on a birthingstool, I tried the bed first, not working for me). She is almost 4 months and love her so much❤
@thamayo253 жыл бұрын
The breathing really helped me during the contractions and when I told the midwife (never met her as she was working night/weekend shift) about the hypnobirthing she was not surprised at all she said as I was really calm most the time. I would recommend it to everyone.

Anja, hi, I am 40 weeks 3 days and had membrane sweep yesterday and some cramps after that but nothing today. I do have GD which is under control but doctors really insist on induction when I will be 41 week max (my other 3 girls were all 40 weeks and 10 days, natural unmedicated delivery). Do you have any suggestions/recommendations to help me get the baby out and possible avoid medical induction?thank you!

Anja would you recommend that i get one in my next appointment? Right now I'm 38 weeks and my doctor offered to do it next week if I want to to avoid getting induced later on. I'm a first time mama. What should I do? Tell him we should maybe wait until week 40? Please advise.... thanks darling! ❤
@HypnobirthingWithAnja11 ай бұрын
Dear Carolina, you can have one if you want to but it is usually 3 sweeps that would bring labour on. Also, your doctor may find it difficult to get into your cervical opening at 39 weeks and the sweep could be more uncomfortable than if you waited another week. However, it really depends on what your cervix looks like at 39 weeks as yours may be opening and softening well already. I normally advise waiting until 40 weeks but having one at 39 weeks and then another a few days later could decrease pressure to be induced in hospital. However, you don't have to accept an induction at all so long as you and your baby are well. Going past your due date is not a medically justified reason to be induced. Hope that helps. Love, Anja xxx

Do sweeps make labour more painful? Or is that just the induction?
@thamayo253 жыл бұрын
I don't know but it does get a bit more intens after they break your waters for you (in labour). It also helped me to go from 5 to 10cm in one hour so that is probably why the contractions got a bit more 'painful'. How far are you? Good luck ♡
@HypnobirthingWithAnja3 жыл бұрын
Sweeps don't make labour more intense. It's the rest of the induction process that can- pessary, breaking waters, the oxytocin drip. X
@Dances953 жыл бұрын
I had a membrane sweep on this past Friday morning @39 wks. It didn't trigger any labor symptoms but I did lose some of my mucus plug. Midwife said that towards the baby is 1cm but I'm dilated 3cm.🤷🏽♀️
@HypnobirthingWithAnja3 жыл бұрын
That's all positive news. Yes, one sweep often won't start labour, you may want to have another. But, if you're not in rush to get your baby out, and there are no health concerns or worries, you don't have to go and have another one. It sounds like your body/cervix is already getting ready by itself xxxxxx

I don't understand how these procedures are possible, how a human hand can reach that far into the body, or how anyone can be comfortable with this. The human body is creepy in it's adjustibility.
@HypnobirthingWithAnja3 жыл бұрын
I do understand what you mean. The birth canal is only 2-4 inches long though so someone's hand won't have to reach up very far 😋
