Reolink is falling behind Tapo and other brands from a technology and app functionality standpoint. The cameras and resolution are great, but that only gets you so far. My prediction is Tapo is going to be the brand to watch in the next year or two as they are innovating and are going to take away a lot of business from companies like Reolink if they don't invest more in the app functionality and AI tech.

The most important thing for a camera is picture quality and durability. All other are aspects are meaningless if the basics isn't there. So Reolink has nothing to worry about provided they give full ONVIF/RTSP support. 3rd party software like blueiris, synology, frigate, etc can do the rest easily regards of app functionality.

Reolink was very underwhelming this year tbh. I was expecting new PoE cameras (like a PoE version of the Argus 4 Pro) maybe some new turret options with ColorX, 4k ColorX doorbells or even real AI features in their software (not just slapping an AI label to old stuff). Looking at what other brands are doing it feels like Reolink is focusing on the wrong things right now

Reolink dropped the ball this time. haven't done much lately besides from making their colorX lineup in a bullet cam housing, altas and argus 4. There is nothing new or different that will have the colorX sensor for their indoor wifi cam options. Their e1 series is so old and dated at this point. I'm actually kinda furious their latest e1 colorX is not poe as it would be ideal for remote installs without AC power or as an alternative to a poe Argus 4 pro. They keep on spewing the 16mp on the duo 3 and now it has wifi and a floodlight. So what megapixels do not add up two (2) 8mp sensors is still 4k not 8k. The fov is worse compared to the duo2 so much talk about pseudo 16mp. And when will there be a trackmix with the colorX sensor? Will it be for all the poe wifi lte battery solar versions or just one? Home hub vs their original style nvrs I don't see the difference I use their 32ch nvr. as someone who's been using reolink since 2021 and purchased various models. It's easy to fall for the very frequent big discount sales for the same old thing again and again. It's exciting to see other brands have new and better stuff. The new nvr from tapo should be good. Just wait till they have a 4k 8mp version of their 2k color pro cam. I do like their doorbell cam more that reolinks options and also the smart ai implementation that aosu has is actually "smart." I'm too deep in to be completely switching brands at this point.

Ring has no innovation but consistently talks about subscription fees. I’ll stick with Reolink, but they do need to implement camera to camera tracking. That guy is right about notifications. I turn off snooze my notifications a lot of times just for that reason.
@wojtek-336 сағат бұрын
You dont have your cameras set up properly if you need to turn off notifications. Set up non-detection zones and enable the appropriate alerts and push notification schedule. Cameras can still record all events, but only alert you when you want them to. I will say Reolink doesn't make this easy, but if you spend some time in the app, which is easier to do on the PC app, then you should be able to configure it to meet your needs.
@M3FortiZay5 сағат бұрын
@@wojtek-33 no they’re set up correctly. But you get a notification from each and every camera inside the detection zone. It would be nice if a person walks across my front yard to get 1 notification with camera to camera tracking instead of 3-4. Or AI that knows it’s me and not a stranger. I have an 8 camera set up at home. I set up all my cameras where I can snooze the notifications when I’m home but if the kids come home from school I get bombarded with notifications.
@wojtek-335 сағат бұрын
@M3FortiZay ah ok, makes sense. I only have 2 cameras out front so I only get 2 notifications in that situation, but I only have notifications set 10p-6a. I use my doorbell for coming home and away alerts. If you have the NVR you can have separate push alerts time-frames from the NVR and the cameras directly for each camera. Not elegant but possible workaround. Also reolink makes little money from us and hardware is cheap, so I wouldn't expect much more without a paid plan.
@M3FortiZay4 сағат бұрын
@@wojtek-33 I love Reolink. Like you said, they make little money from us but I actually would pay for rich notifications and some other features if they implemented them.
