I have so much about vaginal birth on my channel, that I didn't want to leave the potential 1/3 of you mommas out! Yes, the c-section rate in the united states is about 32%! That means that it is likely that some of you will end up giving birth by cesarean... and that's OK! I want you to be prepared and confident for your cesarean, understand the process, what is more important to your chances of a c-section than the hospital c-section rate, the reasons why some women have them and tips about how to prepare for your birth!

Kah Pow how long after the baby was born did it take for them to wake you && then you be able to hold baby??? (I ask that bc I read they won’t let you hold the baby till you fully recovered) ....I have a spinal cord issue and if I have to have c section would have to be put fully under as epidural/spinals in any scenario is impossible and I’m nervous it would be forever till I got to see, hold and breastfeed my baby. Any info you feel comfortable sharing would be soooo very much appreciated!! Thank you

@@Alex-fw6ur aw I'm so sorry hun but don't worry. for you, as soon as you go to sleep you will be woken up. I was very confused and forgot I even had a baby for a minute but I also had both epidural and spinal done so I was drugged beyond belief! As soon as they rolled me back into the room I was able to hold my baby, now every hospital is different but that's what they did for me, I was awake enough to know what was going on by the time I got into my recovery room. For my boyfriend he said it took 45 minutes till they took me back in till he heard our baby girl cry but they attempted a spinal so It took longer for him. It will be longer for you but because your asleep but, it will be like no time has passed! Now for me the second day of recovery was worse so much worse than all the KZbin family's show, I couldn't even lift my arms or legs even my fingers were stiff but I think it was due to the failed epidural and spinal they did, if this happens to you hun, ibuprofen helps alot! Just remember you will see and hold your angel baby in no time! I hope this helps hun.

I'm late to the party but I had mine under general too! I didn't even realize it was a possibility until I had mine. My son's heart stopped during labor and I didn't have an epidural so they put me under to get him out ASAP. It wasn't how I wanted my birth to go but they saved my son's life so I'm grateful.♥️

I had a cesarean this past weekend. During my pregnancy, I avoided thinking about and preparing myself for cesarean birth because I was adament I would have a vaginal. No complications through my pregnancy, baby was in great position, so I thought the birth would be as I expected! Went into the hospital to get checked because my water started leaking and I wasn’t feeling the baby move. They admitted me and said I would be having this baby asap! I was not progressing in labor and the baby was not coping well, heart rate kept dropping. Doctor gave her a few chances to relax and when she didn’t, said we should do a c section to be safe. I was extremely nervous and dreaded the recovery. The procedure was actually not bad. I didn’t even realize when they made the incision and before we knew it, little girl was born! My doctor was amazing and the incision site was already healing excellently when they removed the dressing after 24 hours. Recovery has not been fun so far and as disappointing as it was that I didn’t deliver vaginally, it was all worth it to have our perfect little daughter now!

Thanks for sharing your story! I'm 30 weeks and 3 days now. Before pregnancy and this whole time, I had been prepping and planning for a vaginal birth, but to be ready for the possibilities, I've been educating myself on c-sections. I REALLY don't want one, but your story gave me peace about it in case it does happen. I have two kids (2.5 and 1.5) and I'm 23wks pregnant. My first was a 5 day induction. Yes, 5 days. Of active induction. I'd rather do that 100 times over then have a c section. I dont know how c section mamas do it. I've had smaller abdominal surgeries prior, and I cant imagine recovering from a c section while adjusting to parenthood. All the gold stars to you c section mamas out there. Hats off to you. You are superheros.

I NEEDED this video a little over a month ago! Haha I went to my last Dr appointment and we saw that my baby girl wasn't progressing down (I was too small) well my c section was the morning after. I was terrified! After some complications they had to put me completely under. I was so scared and upset. My husband couldn't be in the room and I wouldn't hear my baby's first cry. I was a wreck, but I just wanted my daughter to come out healthy and same for myself. It then took about 4 hours after my little one was born to finally meet. It was horrible, but she's healthy, Happy and extremely loved ❤️❤️

thank you so much for all of your videos. i remember watching some of your videos when i was pregnant. i then had an unplanned c-section at 42+1 the experience was not so good unfortunately and i'm struggling with ppd 1 year after birth. i want to say, that i absolutely underestimated the consequences and everything around the healing process. the overall medical situation is very different here in egypt, but apart from that all the info is out there. thank you so much for educating the people. e.g. the description of the actual process really helps to put the puzzle together and find peace with that experience one day. my partner told me he saw my organs hanging out, now after you explaining that that's a normal procedure, i also feel a little better about everything. Thanks Love for the info and the love you're spreading to the traumatized or hurt mommies out there. it really helps :*

I just had my second baby 2 weeks ago and I was devastated to hear that I might need a c-section. He was still transverse at almost 39 weeks. My dr/hospital did not offer the ECV procedure so that wasn’t an option. After lots of prayer and some at home techniques or just the will of my body and baby. I went into labor a week later and had my beautiful son VAGINALLY in just 4 hours, one push and no epidural (labor happened reallllllly fast). It was incredible and I’d do it all again.

1st- Thank you so much for making this video series. I know it’s an oldie but it’s great. 2- I really wish I had watched something like this before my 1st because I was definitely in that “I will never have a C-Section” mentality. 3rd - Although my C-section literally saved my life and my baby’s life I still feel very, very guilty about it 6 years later. I feel like I was not a part of my son’s birth at all!!! Quick story: At 14 weeks my husband and I found our first had Gastroschisis (intestines developed outside the body) so although they said we will more than likely have a planned C section, I was in total denial and though I could somehow push the baby. Then at 29 week I lost my mucus plug and my water broke. I did not have any contractions, the baby was breached and I had lost most of my amniotic fluid...I was kept in bed and doctors were trying to keep me pregnant while also doing everything possible to prepare the baby for birth just in case. After day 3 I got a fever and the baby was tachycardic so they said I more than likely had an infection and that’s when they opted for an emergency C section. My baby was delivered successfully and he had surgery to repair his birth defect (Gastroschisis). I did not have any complications AFTER the C section. But for some damn reason I was still very disappointed and felt defeated. Soooooo, Thank Thank Thank you for making us C section mamas feel included. To all you mamas out there, please everyone watch C section videos and just tell yourself that no matter how your precious baby comes into this world you still did an amazing job and you should feel proud, and strong and beautiful AND included!!!! 💕💕💕💕

I ended up needing a c section after laboring for 18 hours. My water broke on it’s own and everything. But I had a fantastic experience with c section. I didn’t get to touch my baby for an hour which upset me but the rest of the experience was great. I was so terrified and kept asking if I could have a second to process but I kept being told that there wasn’t time. That was probably best because if I had time to process what was going on, I would have been more terrified about it al. The anesthesiologist was a jerk and kept laughing at me for being scared and when I’d ask my nurse something he’d tell her just not to answer me. I really did not like him and his attitude. But the surgeon was great and my recovery was easy and I got to have my midwife there with me which calmed me and I had the nurses who labored with me, too.

After a 36 hour induction and 3 hours of pushing, my ob said I could push for another hour (me and baby were in good condition) or do a c-section, as there wasn’t much progress in the 3 hours. I was exhausted, frustrated, and so, so disappointed. I chose to go right for the c-section, and I have no regrets. Neither me nor my baby were ever in distress and the choice was entirely mine. The procedure was jarring but thankfully not traumatic for me. Seeing my baby girl (through the plastic sheet) for the first time was still such a beautiful, special moment. I wish I had educated myself more on the c-section process and recovery process beforehand, but at least I know for next time. I would totally do another c-section. I’ll never do another induction, though.

I had a c section with her (after 15 hours of labor) due to her heart rate dropping, so it was an emergency and I had no idea what I was going into. my doctor now is saying I'd likely have a successful vbac and I hope I can because the recovery from the c section was just ugh! I felt so drugged up and not really making any choices for my baby. I'd like to never experience that again 😪

I had a complication free pregnancy. He was in a good position and I expected to go into labor any day at 40 weeks 5 days. Scheduled an induction just in case, and had a nonstress test. There was one small deceleration so they said it would be safest to induce that day. I labored for about 14 hours, ended up doing Nubain as my contractions became hard and fast with no end in sight. Did an epidural after a few more hours because I was in so much pain I felt like I was going to puke and pass out from the contractions. I planned in my mind a non medical vaginal birth (ha ha) and that didn’t happen at all. At about 0600 am his heart rate shot down and I ended up with a emergency c section and was in the OR within 10 minutes. Only had the epidural for anesthesia and they almost put me under but didn’t have to thankfully. I was scared I’d stop breathing as my respiratory rate was already so low. Thankfully he’s healthy and I’m recovering well. Longest 24 hours of my life and even though not one thing went to plan all I could think about is my sons safety. Pro tip: walk as soon as possible!! The gas pain can be the worst and moving will be the best thing for it. It’s Day 2 and almost no pain. I’ve never wanted to fart so bad in my life loll

You should cover c-section under general anaesthesia as well, and the aftermath. The anaesthesia affected my baby so that he had breathing difficulties when they got him out, but luckily he soon recovered from it. But he was kept away from me for 2 days and I was recovering too. Hormones after section are crazy too and i wasn't the only one in the room who was crying for hours because our babies weren't with us. These tears could not be stopped, it was weird. And then comes the lower back pain for weeks after the surgery.

I guess I’m one of the rare women that wished I had a csection over a vaginal birth due to my complications after vaginal birth. I was left with a Rectovaginal Fistula. Africa has a lower csection rate because there is less access to medical intervention and so Rectovaginal Fistulas run rampant in Africa. The specialist I had to seek out to repair my RVF takes trips to Africa to help the many many women and repair their RVFs. Dr. Margolis Bay Area Pelvic Surgeon is a God send when it comes to understanding the complexity of a RVF and the repair. I was cut open 3 times, one being my 4th degree episiotomy, the second being my OB thinking he had to redo my stitches, and finally the 3rd by Dr Margolis performing a multi layer repair to close the hole for good! All this to say after my first birth I am a scheduled csection in 5 weeks for my second babe. I cannot risk a recurring RVF since my tissue is already compromised between my rectal and vaginal wall.

I have the exact thought process as you. I didn’t have your complications, but I was painfully induced, in labor for 36 hours and have chronic hypertension for which the medication they use to control that during birth makes you feel like you’re on fire and slows down labor. Then after I finally gave birth, I spiked a really high fever and had bad internal tearing and my pubic bone separated resulting in 8 months of PT postpartum. I’m 8 months preggos with my second and my OB doesn’t want to give me a c-section, but baby is frank breech so she just might have to. 🤞🏼

I'm currently 35 weeks today and baby's breech. I had high BP before I got pregnant and up until a week ago it was manageable through meds. I'm also 40 so high risk. I was admitted last weekend because my BP got to 187/110 and wouldn't go down even after 3 doses of my BP via IV. Long story short I switched meds. They're working pretty good but my BP is still a tad bit high. My Dr gave me the option to try and flip the baby manually or schedule a c-section. Also my iron got extremely low. 4% 😞 so when my OB said the word rupture I said I'll choose a c-section. So in exactly 2 weeks from now I will be having my first c-section. I had my daughter via vaginally 17 years ago. I'm so nervous. My husband is currently out of state and most likely getting deployed to Poland at the end of this month. Praying they let him stay 🙏

Wish I had watched something like this before my son was born. Like you said I put all my preparation in vaginal birth, was convinced that was what was going to happen, and felt very helpless when C-section became mandated. After the spinal I felt like I was going under/about to pass out which was a little frightening but the anesthesiologist reassured me it was normal. I was really disturbed by hearing my son's heart rate go down so much before they ripped off the monitors to cut me open. I did have my arms strapped down which was very uncomfortable because the anesthesia gave me terrible shaking in my arms. It was still better than all the back labor pains and midwives trying to push my cervical lip out of the way during pushing, but still uncomfortable. Since it was a transfer from a birthing center there was no plan established with the care team. I have no idea if they delayed cord clamping or anything. I know I received more drugs in a one hour time frame than any other time in my life. I do not remember being offered any skin-to-skin time while they sewed me back up. My husband and child were taken out of the room to recovery while they finished with me. Fortunately my son was extremely healthy and nursed for over an hour once we were finally united about an hour after his birth. I had some postpartum hemorrhage so it took a little longer for them to finish with me than what I remember with my sister's C-section. It definitely was not an ideal experience, but I am grateful that we all came through okay. The anesthesiologist was amazing and I do not think I will ever forget his name or face. Now I am pregnant with number 2 and was hoping for VBAC but the baby is breech and I am 38 weeks tomorrow. She has about a week to turn or it is another C-section, but at least this time would be planned with a doctor I have established a relationship with and I would be better prepared for what to expect. Love your videos!

I was so tired by end of my second labor I didn't want to push. I wanted to sleep, I wanted my o2, I didn't want to be bothered. After 16 hours I was already drained, my eyes barely opened listening to the gaggle of nurses insist I wake up all the way and start pushing. Now I'm weaker and sicker than that time, so I'm aware we may go right for a section. I've never been scared of surgeries, I've had a few types before. My only worry is how quickly will I get out of it and be able to breastfeed, my SO already knows my wish is, "You can leave me there when baby is out, follow the kiddo for me so I'm not worried about any of that."

Update time, I'm at the end of this pregnancy, and a c-section is scheduled. Baby flipped out of engagement and went breech and backwards and refuses to flip back despite attempts. He could last second drop, sure, but today after days of me processing all of this and emotions, when we talked about it at the doctor again and I just accepted it. She offered the idea of a breech birth, but I'm very sick and tired in every way. SO and I read the risks of a breech birth quite a bit and decided we will just take the surgery. Hoping a nurse will take pictures for me since we can't have our own camera in there.

I’m a first time mom at 25 and I didn’t expect at first to need a c-section. My baby, though, has been on the big side (and by that I mean he’s huge) for a while now. I’m 5’2 and the specialist I saw 2 days ago measured him at 10 lbs 13 oz (with no gestational diabetes and me watching my carb intake), so I’m having a c-section on Tuesday. If he had been a normal size baby, I would have gone for a vaginal delivery, but like you said in the video, I’m glad a c-section is an option for me.

I have such a petrifying fear of having to have a C-section. The thought of being cut open is like the worst thing I can possibly imagine, straight out of a nightmare. I can hardly do needles, I can't imagine I'd cope well with an entire surgery😔 I'm only 24 weeks along, but this is already at the forefront of my anxious brain. Also, you kind of skipped over the stitching up part. It takes about an hour and you don't get to be with your baby or partner during that time 😥. Also, you don't get to see your baby right away after a c-section. The nurse cleans and wraps them up first. So, you hear your baby cry and get all excited and have to wait like 5 minutes before you get to even see them. Although with my son (2nd baby), I asked to see him right after he came out. I recommend all Mama's do that.

Naforbe It actually depends on the hospital. The hospital I’m delivering at does skin-to-skin immediately even with c-section. You’re allowed to hold your baby while you’re being stitched up! Good news for me because my baby is still breech at 36.5 weeks.

I wish I had watched this before I had my son. I was fully planning on vaginal birth and didn't think any complications would happen to cause me to have a c-section. However at 38 weeks I had severe placental abruption and had to have an urgent c-section. I was totally unprepared for a c-section and it made it very scary and honestly slightly traumatizing for me. I wish I had prepared for the possibility of getting a c-section. If my c-section was just an hour later I would have lost my son. He's 2 weeks old now and perfectly healthy. Just mentally prepare for the chance that a c-section could happen. I didn't think it would happen to me but I ended up with a complication only 1% of women have.

I went in at 37 weeks to be induced due to gestational hypertension. It went really well with them giving me the medication near my cervix, the foley bulb and pitocin. They decided to manually break my water, and I was nervous about it and didn’t know why because at that point I had gotten my epidural. About an hour or two after they broke my water, suddenly there was fetal distress and they had me on oxygen. I was asleep so I woke up to them telling me I needed oxygen and baby’s heartbeat was getting a tad crazy. I was on oxygen for maybe 20-30 mins before the doctor came in and said I needed a c section because of the fetal distress. I was so scared, terrified. I started crying and shaking, trying to remain calm. The anesthesiologist actually talked me through it and in the OR him and my husband kept me as calm as they could. I tried to keep talking through the drugs to keep myself calm, even though I was trembling. My baby girl was born at 1:06 pm on September 9. She ended up needing a NICU stay but is home now and doing well! It was scary but so worth it because I have this amazing baby. Btw, the shot she talks about taking tastes awful. I recommend plugging your nose and/ or taking it super fast!

This is how I feel about C-section. If I need it, I want it. I told my midwife, I'd prefer to do vaginal birth, but want an epidural on standby. If the baby is in danger, get her out of there. We're doing this thing. Natural birth is cool, lots of people do it. I respect it... But I'm a modern woman in modern times. I'm leaving that hospital with a baby, not a medal. Give me the technological advances. 😂
