@@jensenreus9668 you need to be able to match your dogs energy and show them you’re in control and correct any aggressive behaviors in a tough way, not beat the dog, but a quick hard touch to the side or neck to break that dog’s aggressive focus down while matching their intensity. Dogs are very smart and can read energy and if you as an owner budge the dog will run over you and if you don’t assert dominance you might as well get rid of the dog because you’ll never be able to do regular normal activities with that dog like take walks without attacks, going to dog parks without attacks and that’s no way your dog should live or you. Owners need to show dominance in their energy and not nervousness, anxiousness or fearfulness or it will project to that dog. Also people just think about having a dog to just love on an fulfill their emotional needs but don’t understand you need to be compatible with that dog and do research about how that dog operates before just getting it.

Sometimes I think the only people who should try to have dogs are people with no lives and are willing to be 2nd to an animal . I like dogs a lot but idk I go back and forth, people exaggerate the benefits. Just so they could get a dog that they can pet. But can’t have a deep convo with or do everything with, who is highly dependent on you to do everything for them , the benefit is that you just want a furry thing to pet that sometimes wants to cuddle? Idk. If dogs weren’t so high maintenance I’d get it but often they are just off to the side , needing you to constantly medicate it at a vet and buying it tons of toys and taking it out just to watch IT run. I don’t get why people act like that is so amazing. I think some people are just incredibly bored and have no goals outside of work . Dogs can be cuddly every now and then sure, but that’s basically the only benefit, if you hang around anything or anyone long enough and take care of them devotedly you will develop a soft spot for them. But there are a lot of requirements with just about one benefit that gets dramatically romanticized
@rs55703 жыл бұрын
Absolutely correct. Problems are almost ALWAYS because of the owner. And I don’t like using the term “owner.” We are caregivers and family members to dogs & cats, just like children. No different. If you think it’s different than caring for a child - please, please do not get a dog. Ever.

Awesome observation! A few years ago, I got my first dog (finally lol) that was not a family dog, rescue dog; a dog I purposefully got to have as a companion. She was so timid and fearful, and I had to learn how to work with that as I had never had this experience with a puppy. She was the runt of the litter and born this way. I ended up becoming calmer and stronger for her, to be what SHE needs. In so doing, that spread to other areas of my life. I was not able to apply these things without my dog- so the phrase Cesar says that we get the dog we need is so true. If you are able to apply these things on your own, that is so inspirational to me.

I would submit that a young of her size and weight is not a good match for a largerish dog. I suspect she treated this dog as a person and needs to be educated on pack behavior, prior to choosing a dog like this. That said, the die is cast when she brings the dog home for the first time. As a result this dog naturally protected his owner. Her body language and energy caused her stable dog to escalate the stable dog. Caesar recognizes the dogs aren’t’ the problem here, so he educated the owner in his way by showing her she was the problem. Another case of rehabilitating the owner,and not the dog. and I concur that characteristics shown here, translate well into human behavior. Outstanding, Semper Fi

Remember that guys! His owner was like no mamm don't try while he hitting his dog in his head and nothing would stop him! My instincts set in and I'm not afraid! You have to let know a dog who's boss! The owner not the animal.

Respect for her being able to put herself out there like this. She obviously cares about the dog, but it does not seem like shes fit to be an owner of a dog yet. She needs to focus on her own healing first. Leon is like an emotional bridge that connects her to her deceased friend and for that reason it seems hard to imagine her being able to put all these experiences behind her. Love how Cesar trains both human and animal.
@jozigirl71143 жыл бұрын
Actually dogs are terribly good at helping people heal. That is why they use them in hospitals and old age homes. That dog is a chow in a retriever shaped body. If you know anything about chows then you know that they are stubborn, training resistant, territorial, and dog aggressive. They do not respond well to the same type of training that you would use for - let's say a retriever/labrador/spaniel - think more Akita/shiba inu mentality. A dog from the first group would have been very good for her - but the dog is from the latter group and needs an experienced owner. She absolutely cares about her dog, but she came to the wrong person for help.

you sit on a keyboard judging peoples anxiety and say they need help. Anxiety manifests in a multitude of forms when it comes to animals, nobody wants to hear that they are a bad dog parent. nobody wants to see their dogs the cause of another persons/dogs pain. Its a 100 percent, normal human response. yes we can hope that she can learn to better control her emotions and better correct her dogs actions. but you notice how Cesar gives positive criticism for both human and animal, maybe you should take notice of his leadership. I say this as a person who suffers from anxiety from a multitude of stressors and the desensitized comments of "just get help" is the exact opposite of positive support.

I’ve had dogs, horses, cats, kids & grandkids. 3, 2, 3, 5 & 5 respectively for each now. The methods of being calm, giving immediate relatable consequences, verbally or nonverbally, work 100% of the time. It requires you to pay complete attention to the “subject” and to correct the undesired behavior in a way appropriate for each “species.” How you correct behavior in a horse is different than for a dog, cat, or child, obviously, but because you can’t explain why the correction is taking place to the animals, it’s very important that they identify you as the pack/herd leader at all times and that you correct them in a manner in which they would be corrected by the pack leader/lead mare/primary occupant of the space (cats). I’ve never had issues with vicious dogs, dangerous horses, or “cats from hell.” That’s also because I let them establish their own hierarchy within their species with me as the ultimate leader. Any dog will try to fill the gap if their isn’t an alpha-as in this situation. I’ve owned 160-pound Irish wolfhounds and many other dogs, currently 3 Pomeranians (an extremely independent and stubborn breed even if they only weigh 5 pounds LOL), and if a dog, horse, cat, or kid doesn’t “look to you” for your reaction and decision, then you are NOT in charge of the situation and you will have problems. If you can’t be that constant presence, then you should not own animals or have kids. If you already do, then you need to learn how to be that in a loving, calm, caring, but ultimately authoritarian way. Disclaimer: husbands are almost impossible to use these methods on with any success and take years to develop an understanding with LOL! I’m in my 4th marriage (16 years now), and consequences for severe “infractions” are the only thing that works; that and reverse logic and “acquiescence” until there’s acceptance of the request. 😂 I can “fix” other people’s animals & kids, sometimes within minutes, but it’s impossible with their partners. Cesar has identified the crux of the issue: to help the dog change their behavior, you HAVE to help the human change theirs’, 😄

It's true that she says all the right things in a strikingly unconvincing manner, but at least, from the evidence of her own eyes, she can see what a confident handler of Leon can accomplish with him. Will she need _major_ counseling to become less nervous herself and more assertive as Leon's leader? Maybe that's putting too dire a label on her behavior. The less afraid she is that she can't control what her dog will do, the less she will communicate that fear to Leon. That's a big first step.
@jozigirl71143 жыл бұрын
@@gnirolnamlerf593 her reactions are actually quite normal. Normal people are horrified when their dogs attack another dog. What is wrong is that it was not a good paring. A chow is never going to be an easy dog. They are genetically stubborn, resistant to training, territorial, and dog aggressive. And those negative traits are dominant in most chow crosses. The owner would have been fine if it was a goldie or even a labrador. But saying that this is all her fault is wrong and not very constructive - it also fails to address the root of the issue which is quite typical. Just look at poor Holly there - why does he use her? Because she's not an aggressive dog. Never was. A fearful dog yes, a submissive dog yes - aggressive nope. If she was aggressive he would not be using her to do this as she would have been just as eager to get at him than he was. This video is ridiculous.

"We think that's cute." I tried to help someone with a dog who lunges/snaps at the husband. When I asked why the dog still wasn't crate trained after two years, she said "it didn't want to go in." @@c.san.8751 Pay attention to the story. She didn't choose Leon; Leon was her best friend's dog. Her friend passed away, and she's trying to give the dog a good home. That's why Leon is so protective of her, because he lost his previous human and doesn't want it to happen again.
