Absolutely insane final session!! That clearance from Ronnie to go 10-7 what crazy, I was getting real Alex Higgins vibes; and then Luca rising from the dead to bring it back to 10-9. What a way to start the season 👍👍

Like Cesar astutely pointed out, look at the expression on the ref's face. I can honestly say I can't remember a snooker ref's professional mask dropping like that before. A nice exception, a great match.

Ronnie didn't play at his best in this tournament, but when he needed to step it up the most he did. 2-5 vs Higgins he was struggling then he makes a great steal from 0-58 and plays great from then on. Vs Selby 6-7 down makes another great steal/clearance from 0-66 down and plays great from then on. Vs Brecel it was nip and tuck and then Ronnie plays 3 amazing frames to take a 10-7 lead which won him the match. So overall Ronnie played great only in spurts, but he played great when it mattered the most and thats the most important thing.
@Billy.Nomates Жыл бұрын
I do know that Luca said he enjoys playing Ronnie as they're both attacking players. They all start out attacking everything,but soon realise it's not about that,it's about knowing when to attack

"The main reason for the kick is thought to be the presence of chalk between the 2 balls. This effectively increases the friction between the balls, causing them to travel slower and on a norrower (or thicker) path. The balls also tend to "jump" slightly when a kick occurs."
@sdrtcacgnrjrc Жыл бұрын
The camera work is very interesting here -- they mainly use the raised view from one end of the table. This allows us to see most of the play -- in stark contrast to the way snooker is normally filmed. 0:53 is more like typical snooker camerawork: the ball being potted is zoomed in on, the white is ignored and there is a chop to the white once the ball is potted. This is well and good, but this pattern is also used when it's clear that the white is going on an interesting journey -- a canon has to be made, or avoided, a pocket dodged, a route found to the next ball. To me, the real art in snooker is not potting the balls -- it's positional play, i.e. getting to where the next ball is pottable, ideally easily. And this skill is largely ignored in coverage. Someone somewhere (who probably didn't even play snooker) has dictated that snooker is covered this way and it appears to be accepted without protest by everyone. We are used to it -- it started already in the seventies. @CesarMuroya with your influence, would you consider making a video showing up the flaws in this approach? Sure, if they have time, they often show a beautiful view of the path of the white -- but with fast players like O'Sullivan etc. they just don't have time for that beautiful replay. So why not show it properly first time round 😕 A frustrated snooker fan...
@sdrtcacgnrjrc Жыл бұрын
Other weird stuff very commonly done in coverage: 1) cut to the crowd when the white is flying around the table e.g. when a century is made (why not split the screen, or do picture in picture?) 2) show a really slow replay and miss live play 3) use a really long/slow animated tournament logo before and after every replay -- again contributing to #2

I began watching one of the choppy, floppy versions shortly after the event so as to try to beat the spoiler (I lost that battle) and I had a good laugh when Ronnie fouled with the rest (I believe it was the first session). After the foul was called Peggy Li approached Ronnie to take the rest but looked like she was poised to escort him out of the arena the way she went after both the rest and his cue (with extension). I think she just wanted to get her mitts on The Rocket, and I don’t blame her, he’s quite a handsome bloke! Thank you for the upload Cesar!👍👍

But then he gained the weight and took time off of snooker, I saw Luca in an interview just weeks before this tournament and I said, he is lost and became what most people do when they get there first hall of fame win, the buy a expensive car and get out of shape. Hope is able to get back on track.

Of all the channels for Snooker, Cesar does very well ... well edited. But why do we have to have edited games? I would greatly prefer to see the whole match. Puzzles me. If World Snooker wants people to watch Snooker, then they should post the games sometime after the event - would it in any way effect revenue for Pay providers if the match was officially posted on youtube - 48 hours, or 72 hours, or one week after the live event??

Brecel is still very young and will get wiser as he ages, if he works on his safety game he can be a great player
@allanb52 Жыл бұрын
@@abdullahibrahimhassan7301 He is 28 that is not young at all. Ronnie was 19 when he won the masters, Steve Davies, Steven Hendry and Mark Williams had all won a dozen of top titles at that age. Brecel has had one reasonable year, surprisingly winning the big one, but a history of only 5 very minor titles in his 11 years as a pro. Hardly an auspicious start, but who knows, he has been lucky so far.
