Congratulations to both of you Safet, as well as the ensemble: the pacing and style of the performance was spot on, IMHO. I find most modern renditions of this majestic piece by Ramaeu a bit too hectic for my taste. I am fond of lively, energetic and speedy renditions of Baroque music in general, but one must know where to draw a line, where too much speed becomes detrimental to the very essence of a particular piece. In my opinion, the pacing was just right in this performance!

Nope, the pacing is appropriate for the 'baroque galante' style Rameu was famous for: lively, intimate, intricate yet exuding grandeur and majesty -despite the lyrical theme being about ...savage tribal indians... ;) Many of modern performances play this too fast and you're probably accustomed to those, that's why you find this 'too slow'....
