I wanted to show how to check the head space on this rifle because it is different tham most rifles out there. I however can not edit at all, I am a moron. lol. I go over the parts kit and few other issues with this time tested tank of a rifle.

Nice video, thanks for taking the time to share. I bought a Century CETME 10 years ago, it had the stainless cast receiver with beautiful wood furniture & rubber butt pad. The finish was flawless and It shot great. If I had any complaints, the buttstock pins were difficult to remove and install. I never had any problems with it, even in sub freezing temps, using R1M1 & Portuguese surplus ammo. It came with 2 CETME mags, but i purchased several HK alum mags too and they fit and worked fine.

@TitanTony407 Bro..., back when I bought this parts kit it was right around 100 bucks but if you can find one with the barrel included, you are looking at anywhere from 500 to 750, depending on the barrel and of course condition. They are in most cases as much as a complete CETME rifle. I do not remember off the top of my head what I paid for the rifle but it was years ago. Sorry. Thanks though, I do appreciate it. : )

There is a really cool tool for removing and installing the bolt head. It's essentially a c clamp with a mount that fits over the bolt

@3255959 That is a very hard question. I bought this a long time ago when there was plenty of parts kits available. The parts kit days are sadly winding down. : ( I would say go on Gunbroker or Guns America and look. You also might want to check message boards and the like but it will be hard to find a complete parts kit like I have, there is a lot of garbage left and not a lot of good parts kits. The CETME parts kits that you might get lucky to find, will not be complete. Big money. Thanks.

Ya Pete, just check it out real good. It should action a little tough butnot ridiculous and make sure it is not one of the CETME's that CAI grinded the back of the bolt. I love mine but you really need to make sure you know what you are getting and make sure its a good one. : )
@ChromeFreak123
@ChromeFreak123 13 жыл бұрын
@TitanTony407 That s a very big maybe. It really depends on what the parts kit looks like and what the rifle looks like. CAI put together some really nice CETME's but also put together some really crappy CETME's. If you find a real nice old parts kit that has the brand new barrel included and not some American made barrel, there is such a variance in what I would do, its really a tough decision. Keep me updated and if you think I can help you at all, please let me know. : )

Great video! It's obvious that you've done your research and you know your technical stuff. You're very fair with CAI. I was looking for a good video on the CETME that wasn't done by some peach-fuzz kid or someone who would bore me to death and I found it! Keep them coming....

@strawdog3571 I agree that their quality control is not the best. I do think they have improved a lot over what they use to put out but I know that does not help you. I would call them and raise enough hell that they will probably fix your issues. Its worth a shot. Thanks. : )

@nathan00campbell I can tell you right here. I got it from Aim Surplus but that was a about 7 or 8 years ago. lol. I don't think you can find one for under 5 bills if you can find a good one at all. The good old days of great parts kits are behind us now. : ( Thanks.

@megadriver1 That is great, it is information like that, I want.I had no idea that the wood for the stock was from trees in Spain. Chopo, I will never forget that name now.I wish I could find a true military Cetme, there are some out there but they are very expensive.I seen one a while back and I believe it was in the 12,000 $.range. I could legally own a full auto here in America but it is very expensive to get in to a full auto. You must get a class 3 and a stamp. I would love more info Thanks

@matthewcolt1911 Unless, it is a imported Cetme that is in its true figuration, I can tell by looking at it, then you got a deal. If it is a Century arms import, it is an assembled parts kit on an American receiver, a great rifle but not at 1,000 bucks. I would not pay more than 700 for one. That is just for the rifle, now if he threw in a few thousand rounds of ammo, you did fine. I hope this helps. Thanks.

@matthewcolt1911 All Cetme's are from Spain, all you have to do is look at the top of the rifle at the rear sight. If the rear sight is mounted on a rounded area, it is a Parts kit rifle which is fine but to much money for it. If the top is flat where the rear sight sits on top, a thousand bucks is a great deal. I hope this helps. I would love to see a up close pic of it.

@SovietMediaKontrol . I was going to say rollers then I see you changed them. No, I do not think the firing pin spring would have anything to do with it. I have heard of some people with about the same problem taking the rifle to a 'Smith and having to have the barrel pushed back more into the trunnion. I think this is your problem. the area where the rollers open in the trunnion is wearing out. I am going to give you a channel name of a guy who is a Cetme expert, L1A1 is his youtube channel.

@148scalemodeling Anything from CAI needs to be looked at closely. They get some done perfectly and others not so good. They have been improving with their QC lately but I would still have everything completely checked out. I am not trying to slam them, I own more than a few CAI weapons but they must be looked at real good. I hope this helps. Thanks. : )

@rllang01 Sounds like a beautiful rifle. My pins were also at first difficult to remove but the more I take the rifle down, the easier it is getting. I also shoot more surplus ammo but have had no problems with either surplus or factory. Thanks for the comment.

I want to thank you ChromeFreak123. When I was first getting into shooting, I watched your Mosin Nagant video and learned lots about that style of rifle, also, you turned me on to Iraqveteran8888. Since those days, I've learned tons about AK's, AR's, etc., and now have my own collection, in fact looking to add a CETME to it. Love your videos and thanks for the inspiration! You ROCK man!!

If the back of the bolt has been grinded down to give the appearance of proper headspacing, you need to replace the bolt and then check your headspace. If its to tight, I would recommend using +4 size rollers. The bolt carriers arm can be grinned to a certain degree but you have to get the rifle to spec. IMO. Thanks.

hello, do you think the firing pin spring would have anything to do with bolt gap? reason i ask is because the locking piece has a little bit of play in it forwards & backwards so does this mean the spring behind it is worn out? outside of the gun i have .002 gap but inside the gun i have 0 gap. i replaced the locking piece, installed a BRAND NEW bolt head & new +4 rollers, still 0 gap after the "hk slap".

Hey Chrome. Dont feel bad about the editing, "moron" thing. I too am a moron. Anyway I recently got a "new" CETME from Century Arms. I have stripped it down as you instructed and the only thing I seem to find problematic is the charging handle. It takes an unusual amount of force to open the arm, handle, and to pull back and load a round. What do you think? I dont want to break/bend anything and so far it seems o.k. It fires fine and cycles ammo O.K.I own a PTR91 and a PTR32 and these are smooth

They are awesome Pete. You just have to do your homework on one before you lay the money down. CAI did some shoddy work on them when they first started to import them but got a lot better after a few years. They are hit and miss but, if you know what to look for, you can get a sweet deal on a great rifle. Thanks bro... : )

Mine was very hard also. I used a small shotgun hone and cleaned it up a bit. I then lubed it and it is pretty smooth now but I know alot of them were pretty tough to charge. Knowing the intricate micrometer-precise german nature of roller delay I find this kind of willy-nilly cutting that causes head spacing problems just barbarian. On top of that this grinded "false head space appearance" is just criminal in my opinion: if rollers are not in place it can result in a plain blowback with 7.62 X .51 pressure that happens next to a shooters face!!! It is unthinkable! But maybe I'm being too german here...
