After all the hassle of posting from selling it yourself, I'd rather take them to CeX and get a voucher, they give 75% on decent stuff which is actually quite reasonable.
@cayletalks7 күн бұрын
Time is money I do agree😂🫡
@TheRealSlimsagey77 күн бұрын
It's not 75 % though is it? Even Silent hill 2 is only 64% right now and that only came out a few days ago. Losing over a third of its value in voucher form, vs getting most of your money back in actual money. Time is money, but more importantly Money is Money. Perhaps its just me but spending 20 minutes to box something and take it to the local post office really isn't that big a deal, it takes you that long to get to CEX?
@chrissatchwell7 күн бұрын
The Parcel Collect service by Royal Mail is now free up to 20 parcels per week so that means often there's no need to go to the post office any more. Can also tell them a 'safeplace' if nobodys gunna be at home.

About 3 percent of my collection is from cex. When it was 1 store in London they were importers only in 1992 and I used to buy alot more then than now. The price of cex needs to include fuel and parking which nobody seems to account for.
@Purgatory.Diaries7 күн бұрын
CEX is also one of the few options here in Spain for older games, especially if you need to buy them online. I just wish they could "group" the games that come from the same store and charge only 1 shipping fee. It's literally the one thing I dislike about them. I never really sell to them, since you're better off listing it on Vinted, Ebay or Wallapop, but to buy older games, CEX is the MVP! =]

CEX is pretty much what is keep a lot of the retro games stabale especially in the PAL Market, if they did not exist, the prices would skyrocket and be all over the place much like the American market which is crazy. I live in a country but has no CEX and yeah i can tell you it is mega hard to find retro games here.

I went to Odeon today to see Smile 2 (mid imo) and all the annoying people were near me, right in the middle of a row? Wild. Had a guy to my right a few seats have his phone full volume getting messages for like the first twenty minutes, a couple come in about 10 minutes in looking at their phones half the time to the right, and another guy in front of me to the right snapping his fingers and saying whatever came to mind for some reason?

Charity shops are genuinely more expensive than CEX/Ebay. Found a copy of breath of fire 3 on psp in a cancer research. They wanted £18 for it… £15 game in CEX, sold for £5 on eBay 👍🏻

That is my biggest hassle with CEX regarding delivery. The delivery per item fee. I feel like they should change it to delivery per store or maybe even go some of the clothes stores routes and pay like £20 for a years delivery idk.

I got a headset, with a 2 year warranty, grade A. It is basically brand new and was £65 rather than over £100. As you said it is convenience, if I want vouchers I use them. It really is difficult to find physical copies of games now, I always like to look at the condition before I buy too 😊

the way I use cex is the way I think a lot of sellers should, ill try sell it private first but if I either get no interest or I get interest but its either at or slightly above what cex would give me ill just take it there, avoid the hassle of arranging to meet someone, them possibly not turning up etc, always try sell private first and use cex as a fall back because its definitely going to sell to them (in the most part) and its a quick easy sale

As someone who sells retro gaming stuff on eBay and to CEX it can really depend on the item. There are certain things I can sell on eBay for more than they cost to buy from CEX. Other things CEX will pay way more in in-store credit than I could get selling them on eBay. But yes the cash rates at CEX are not great but this was always the way at game/game station etc back when they did trade ins.
@ItsTheKP137 күн бұрын
Like most things in the world, its not black and white, CeX have some things well priced but also alot considerable overpriced. I'd say any 360/PS3/PS4/Switch title over £30 can be picked up a fair bit cheaper on ebay with abit of patience.

Usually can find some of the more expensive stuff from CeX elsewhere but for the games that cost under £5, cheaper to get it from CeX than pay postage elsewhere

Always love your cinema takes. Im exactly the same. Cant believe tickets cost that much where you live!?!?!?! 😮 We can literally drive to a Vue 20 minutes away max and pay £5 😅 or my local showcase (since my old work Odeon closed) and pay insider prices of £7-10. Its funny how cinema tickets cost more 8-10 years ago than they do now in most places but of course thats partly due to streaming and getting people back in the screens so had no choice but to reduce em ay! I think cex is great overall. Yes some stuff is manky and broken and shouldn't be sold but you do find some great stuff and sometimes something u weren't even after takes your fancy. Also, selling for cash in cex is stupid unless you're very desperate (hey, I did it before covid and regret it massively) but we gotta thank the chavs for trading in cash cos how else they gonna pay for their next score? 😅 And older people often don't want voucher so they'll take whatever. What I tend to find is if it's a new game or rare and good value, just trade to cex for ease. If it's worth nothing, trade to cex. IF, in my example, its ps2 games theyd give me 80p-£1.30 for voucher, not even cash, and sell for £4+ in their store. I'll stick them on eBay for £5-10 and often someone buys it. Sometimes i think why do people buy from eBay when cex is cheaper actually but i guess ebay u can guarantee a w/manual and condition of item.
@TheRealSlimsagey77 күн бұрын
I think if you sell/ shop around on eBay and Vinted you save a lot of money if you have some patience. And you get real money instead of a voucher. I like convenience as much as anyone but if I only get 40% of the games value then I am willing to sell it properly, particularly now there are no fees on eBay for private sellers. Switch games are ridiculously over priced in CEX in particular, I have managed to get all the Mario games available for less than half what CEX would have charged me and I think that is important to people that don't get the KZbin/TikTok revenue streams to fund game purchases, I appreciate your transparency with your income but some of us would never be able to blow £600 on a single game so I think perhaps it is worth mentioning some people don't have a choice to be more frugal. I end up sending offers I am happy to pay and more often than not they get accepted. For context I only started collecting physical about 6 months ago, so I got them all the Mario's recently.
@TheRealSlimsagey77 күн бұрын
But I'm glad CEX does exist, particularly for the retro and blu ray sections and to have somewhere to physically go to, even if they dont stock new games day 1. The stuff behind the glass is worth going to see just for the nostalgia hits. Man I miss Gamestation and Grainger games - those were the days

I understand why they do it, but I find it really annoying when cex increase the price of a game when the sequel comes out, or when a movie/show based on it comes out

Cex is cool for alot of run of the mill stuff but even then in recent times they price higher than Amazon for so many things pre owned I got dark souls trilogy for 30 on Amazon compared to 45 in store. I managed to get red dead 1 remaster on a sale for 25 same with hogwarts legacy when both where still 35 pre owned at the time. Plus with royal mail pick up being free for 20 parcels a week and eBay removing fees for private sellers I might as well sit on most stuff I would have sold to them when I can get way closer to market value

I see CEX as the lesser of two evils when it comes to eBay. I use CEX to sell my old game to go towards a new one. I’ve yet to buy anything from them as my OCD won’t allow it!! I have a thing with buying second hand. 🤷🏻♂️🤣 Though I am considering buying retro consoles to relive my youth.

@@tereknor original consoles is a big money pit, be warned. I'm straying from original consoles that are not hdmi and replacing them with hdmi alternatives. Which In fairness is a other money pit, but with convenience and modern hardware Built in. I'll keep GameCube, ps2 for now as original but anything older I buy modern alternatives. But if you want the original experience you end up modding, wireless controllers and hdmi up scaling solutions tacked on as well.

And the reason loads of games are not listed especially the hard to find cheap games is no one trades tgem in for 0.01 haha
